April 28, 200521 yr Hello.I am trying to land the Captain sim 707 using autopilot and ILS.But without succes. I have tried with diferent settings on the autopilot panel, but the plane seems to have a life on its own.Does anyone have experienses on problems in this field CS 707) or does anyone know where there is a thread on the subject?I am using the download I made, just after the release of the product. Was there an update later?Boy am I missing CS forum!!!KindlyJakob
April 28, 200521 yr There is an update for 1.1. Make sure you have version 1.1. That is the current version. Brent Lewis
April 28, 200521 yr No. You have to download the full aircraft from CS website.I did just that, but for the moment i can still not make the aircraft behave.Jakob
April 28, 200521 yr The 707 is one unfinished product, and maybe even one of the reasons for why CS closed the forum, didn't want to read another complain from customers who wants the 707 completed. I read something quite funny in a novel sometime ago that actually made me stop dreaming about things like this:CS release a HercCS fixing the 707CS start listening to their customersCS opening a forum(Of course every other dream in life more important than these minor issues)This is what I read: Potentional I TRIED TO USE A PROFANITY HERE - AREN'T I STUPID!ness when a dream comes true is relative to the amount of time you spent working up the dream. April 28, 200521 yr Jakob, I had a problem installing the 707 1.1 because I still had temp files in my local settings directory, so all I was doing when running the update was installing the original 1.0 over and over until someone suggested that I delete those files, then I was able to install the 1.1 correctly. Other than that, the ILS Auto mode works pretty well when capturing a Localizer and then the GS, but I find it's much more fun to land by hand just like our AWACS pilots do, infact autopilot comes off at cruise, when we are a few miles from our projected descent point.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
April 28, 200521 yr It's a pretty picture on the outside and the cockpit too.But the autopilot and the pitch knob, especially the pitch knob leaves a lot to be desired! This was a complaint by the rewiewer of the CS B-707 when it first came out. Why would CS release it with this problem is unknown? This is a quote from the review below:"As you may have gathered, I like the 707 a lot, even if the autopilot needs attention."http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/re...cs707/cs707.htmHollister
April 28, 200521 yr Yes, the CS 707 in its current implementation is a joke. Which is too bad because there were only 2 or 3 seemingly minor things that needed to be done to have made it an instant classic. It's too late now as most people have a bad taste in their mouth over this one. And shutting down their support forums? Well, that says it all in my mind. These guys don't care the least about their customers. Release it, collect the cash, then start to hype the next one and repeat the process. billg
April 28, 200521 yr The main thing is, that the b..... thing cannot hold the lokalizerduring ILS app. Only with extensive help from the Auto pilot bank control can I have a landing. Beats me why Captain sim does not correct this issue.Ils landings works great on the Flight1 Iron Knuckles DC-9-30, and the flyingexperience and satistfaction is much greater than CS 707, as the things are for the moment. What a petty, for a product so beautifull modelled ( And whith such stunning textures!!!!)KindlyJakob Arnholtz
April 28, 200521 yr Their products look so good, and you can tell they put in a heck of a lot of work in them. If they could only finish what they start, they'd be among the best. Maybe they contract out their work, so when it is done, perhaps they don't have the option of going back to fix what they have started, which would require another contract...CS = So much potential, so little follow though.RH
April 28, 200521 yr In response to Billg, I'm starting to get upset that they haven't fixed the 707 also. I'll wait untill the Herk comes out to pass judgement on CS as I'm not unhappy with their other products, so hopefully they won't let us down with it.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
April 29, 200521 yr CS's flight models are difficult to fly - by hand or using Otto. If you want a good period airliner, you won't go wrong with the Dreamfleet three-holer. It is a wonderful hand flyer, great systems, good panel. I love it. I've uninstalled my "Legendary" 727 completely, and will be very, very hesitant to buy another CS plane.
