January 29, 201511 yr More than. It's night and day from FSX even in stock form I'm still not sure P3D is "the way" to go. Maybe it has to due with the fact that I'm on an "older" rig (my 2500K OC is dying too), but I literally get half the fps in P3D compared to FSX. I also get a lot more stutters in P3D. I agree though, the stock, just load and go P3D looks way better than FSX, and those cool features like cloud shadows and native cockpit shadows are a really positive feature to P3D. Also P3D OOM's just like FSX when you add a bunch of addons... people claim it's less prone to OOM's but I've seen just as many OOM's on P3D. Maybe it's the crazy scenery I've been loading P3D up with... no idea. So there's that, and then the part where P3D is not really stable... they're developing it further, yes, which is really nice, but that means new additions to potentially "break" some addons or older feeatures. It's kinda like XP10 (which I also use from time to time), constant development = less stability. Not gonna lie, but all three sims frustrate me at different times for different reasons. FWIW I bought FSXSE but saw no difference between the Gold version and SE. January 29, 201511 yr You're not running enough scenery then LOL! I've got LVFR's SNA, FSDT's LAX, plus Shez's freeware KLGB and KONT... it's the polygon of death. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 29, 201511 yr Author Oh, thanks for the pics Mike (or is it Mike Jr?) It's just Mike, I'm the most senior Michael currently in our family , and no problem! I think as the jury is pretty much out on all of the latest FSX derivatives, I will be getting the Steam Edition for the time being, based purely on the fact that it's a slightly improved version of the sim I'm used to, and it's on Steam As for OOM's, that is very much unproven ground for me anyway. There's only one way to find out, but I hope this hefty i7, GTX 970 and SSD can keep it at bay for a while. Mike

On the contrary, am running REX, as well as 3 levels of Orbx, and the likes of Aerosoft's Airbus and Majestic's Q400.
