November 28, 201411 yr I currently run FSX with an i7 4770k @ 3.5 (H100i water cooled) - MSI Z87-GD65 - MSI GTX 780ti 3GB Factory OC - 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2133 - 250 SSD - Corsair 760 PSU. With everything maxed out I get poor frames (expected) but shouldn't the CPU / GPU be in boost / turbo mode or something along those lines? Are there any apps available that automatically overclock the CPU? The rig is completely silent when I would have thought at least an increase in fan speed would occur? Keith Sandford.
November 28, 201411 yr AFAIK, there should be a tool included on the GPU driver CD which provides overclocking functionality and also readouts for GPU temperatures and fan speed. If not, check the MSI and nvidia sites for any respective downloads. What happened to AVSIM
November 28, 201411 yr Author Thats interesting, thanks. I've noticed that everyone here runs with an OC'd CPU so I assume its reasonably easy, without having to view hundreds of youtube videos. Keith Sandford.
November 30, 201411 yr You can use the OC Genie 4 to automatically overclock the CPU. This can be accessed from the BIOS screen or by pushing the button on the board. It's all explained in the manual. Michael Turner
December 1, 201411 yr I'd do it yourself in BIOS making sure you've studied plenty of 4770k overclocking guides. Just remember that 1.3v vcore on the CPU is a nice and safe limit to run 24/7. Some say 1.35v but you should be able to get a decent overclock on 1.3v. Your H100 will give you a good chance to keep temperatures reasonable. Try to keep your temps lower than 80c in AIDA 64 stress test and you will be fine for 24/7 use. Make sure you don't let any adaptive voltage settings in BIOS raise your vcore above the volts you need for the clock speed you're aiming for.
December 1, 201411 yr Author Ok thanks. I will try the OC Genie first as I have not a clue when it comes to overclocking if I'm honest. Keith Sandford.
December 4, 201411 yr Overclocking programs can be a bit too aggressive. Watch voltages and temps closely.
