Getting better frame rates in P3D over FSX

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm just wondering if it is normal for some PC's to be getting better frame rates in P3D over FSX. I get over 60-70fps in P3D and only about 30-40 in FSX. I have the settings maxed in FSX and the settings set to about 50% in P3D. My PC specs are as follows:

Intel i7 4790K

Nvidia GTX750TI

8 gigs of ram

Additionally, I've tried using the optimizer found here:

Try setting the settings to 50% in fsx as well for an apples to apples comparison..

I could always get "Higher" frame rates in P3D but they weren't smoother frames. FSX locked at 30fps 1/2 refresh rate was always more smoother than P3D at 60fps. Of course, this is my observation.

I was getting frame rates in P3D in the high 60's and mid 70's. Once I loaded REX4 and ActiveSky NEXT and weather was introduced, I was getting the same if not worse frames in P3D than I was in FSX. Clouds were a frame killer for me so I would test again once weather was influencing the clouds.

As far as what I read on the P3D forum here, P3D at 50% settings is almost a notch higher than the 50% settings in FSX. Try what Bert suggested as I felt P3D at 50% was the same as FSX at 50%.
