I remember browsing the maddog forums a while back, and it looks like they are at least planning to do a major upgrade. Not sure if it has or will come to fruition at all, but one can hope:

Yes! The MD-80 and its derivatives is a hugely popular aircraft--at least here in the States--and we modern-day simmers have nothing. I was esctatic to see the TFDi 717 proof a month or two ago when I stumbled upon their site but, at least for now, we can expect the CRJ 700 and 900 from Aerosoft. Not only will it apparently be more indepth than their Aerosoft, I personally feel like it at least resembles the MD and 717 and, functionally, covers some many of the same routes...
