FSX Stuttering all of a sudden

Featured Replies

Ok so I've had my custom rig for a few months now, an I7-5930k (OC'd to 4.5 ghz), an EVGA edition gtx 780 TI, 1 Tb HD and a 250 gb SSD, 2666 MHz ddr4, and a gigabyte x99 gaming 5 motherboard. It is a beast. However, after my latest purchase (fsdreamteam lax V2), I've been having stutters and they are pretty bad even when I'm not at LAX. I uninstalled LAX but the stutters are still there. I'll turn on my frame counter and in an external view in my PMDG 777 at a payware airport, I would hit 40-50 FPS. With the stutters it won't even go past that and it's very inconsistent. I set up fsx and my rig according to nick n's the bible and I'm just really confused to what is causing this. Should I just wipe the slate clean and uninstall everything I've downloaded in the past three months, or try to do some digging? I would appreciate ANY feedback.

The add-on manager for FSDT airports has a function that will change or add lines in the FSX.cfg. I suppose they consider it a feature but it's always annoyed me. You might have accidentally triggered the changes if you were in the add-on manager. Revert to a backup cfg or delete it to rebuild another. Other than that, I can't think of anything KLAX v2 would do to cause stutters if you are not in the LA area. It will cause a performance drop as far south as Long Beach and as far north as Ventura but if you have stutters in a completely different city it must be a config issue.

Totally agree.  Get rid of those awful tweaks!  I do not understand why FSDT put them into the addon manager but it was done back in the good ole' days before the i7 Sandy Bridge chipset was released.  Does it mean you have to have tweak FSDT/FlightBeam products in order to get their product to perform properly?  MegaSceneryEarth does the same thing.  Fortunately both give you the option of not employing the tweaks and I think that is the best option.  The OP has a very powerful system and to be tweaking the configs is total insanity (IMHO).

I would tend to agree Jim in many respects, but even the most powerful systems can benefit from a few of the basic tweaks, e.g.

Highmemfix

Some bufferpool tweaking

Correct affinitymask setting
