Thinking of buying a new aircraft.Anyone got a suggestion? Was maybe thinking of either Flight1's ATR 72-500 or the DF727.Currently flying PMDG 737 series, RFP747-200 and LDS 767.Already put money away for PMDGs 747-400. :-)Thanks Nick

Best regards/

Niclas

Nick,Seriously, there are dozens of good ones out. It really depends on what you want. Read through the reviews and double check in the forum. You can't go wrong with the ATR or the DF727 but they are very different. The payware ERJ is great also.David

Dream Fleet makes quality aircraft, however, it is not as complete relative to FMC and features as the PMDG and LevelD simulation products. I can recommend the ATR as the best example of a jet prop and IMHO the most complete package available considering system fidelity, FMC, eye candy and FM before the latest LevelD arrived. You might want to vary your pace a bit and add the ATR. It is great for regional airports and a pleasure to fly. Bob...

I don't own the ATR, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Friends of mine who do own it rave about it.I *do* own the Dreamfleet 727, and can tell you with certainty that you will love it if you are interested in a 727 sim with depth, good systems modeling, nice looks, a great VC, and an absolutely wonderful flight model.Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia

I have all those you mentioned and you really can't go wrong with the ATR or the DF727. One poster pointed out an incomplete FMC in the DF offering. It has no FMC. Pure keep your hands on the controls and fly it but absolutely a great aircraft. The ATR is also one of the best if not the best prop aircraft package out there. Talking commercial passenger aircraft only.

How is the Captain Sim 707? I have been flying military transports lately and I been thing about getting the 707 for the AWACS and KC-135 paints.

They are both great. For a real change of pace, you should go with the DF727. It is wonderful and only a bit automated unlike PMDG and LDS which I also fly. Yes I do have the ATR also and just finished two legs in her.

Both are solid add-ons. You have to decide whether you want a commuter or a short-medium haul jet. Both have great system modeling which require reading big manuals and doing a lot before during and after a flight. Too much work for me. I already memorized the Ready for Pushback aircraft and have too much fun with her to want to do the same things managing many systems with the smaller craft. I'd rather take out the Eaglesoft Citation X or PMDG 1900C. And like you I'm anxiously awaiting the PMDG 744!!!

Hi Nick,I own the Flight1 Cessna 172R and I find it very well done with no bugs whatsoever. One payware I DON'T RECOMMEND AT ALL is the PSS Airbuses - all of them - the A320/A330/A340. Being an owner of two other commercial jetliners - namely the PMD 737NG and the Ready for Pushback 747-200, the number of messed up "BS" with PSS is ridiculous! ... and the worst part - PSS has officially, almost "proudly" announced that they will not issue anymore fixes or FDE's for these planes. You also get very limited, if any, good support to legitimate problems on the PSS forum which, by the way is moderated... I think PSS is scared of too many bad posts for their sub-par products and hence the reason for moderating their forum.John

I love flying my "iddy biddy Jumbo"

If you like older jets then the bset choice is the df727 - better than the cs 707 IMHO.The best modern jet is the LD 767 IMHO and the best turboprop is the F1 ATR72 IMHO.The best executive turboprop is the F1 PC12.The best piston GA is the DF beech A36.The best vintage is the DC3 of MAAM.The best Russian Airliner is the TU154M of IGFly.Also the spitfire of real air is fantastic if you like that sort of thing.Stay away from Perfect Flight and the Wilco A380.The PSS airbuses are good but a bit dated. The PMDG 737 series is also excellent. The best 747 is from RFP.My opinions are based on what I own already. Mainly it depends on what Aircraft you personally like....Can't go wrong with the above list...

If you want to go REALLY vintage, the Donationware Albatros (OAW) DIII (with a Caudron G.4) for $10.00, is fantastic!
