May 27, 200521 yr Would appreciate any comments on this scenery. Their site now indicates a 30 day money back policy and improved fps. The screen shots look very good. They also state "Compatible with default Microsoft Scenery also compatible with VFR Photographic Scenery & VFR Terrain." Does this mean you no lomger need the VFR scenery and terrain package installed to use this scenery? Has the price been reduced from the previous version?http://www.visualflight.net/london/avs1.htmThanks,Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
May 27, 200521 yr I bought this when it was released (before they really tested it).. couldn't land on London city airport.. you would hit invisible objects.I haven't used it since then.don't know if they fixed it yet. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
May 27, 200521 yr Hi there., I have London Scenery and love it. The night lighting is excellent to. One thing is that it doesn't extend to the west of london to far (check the area coverage yourself). It works with UKVFR and TERRAIN (which i have), and i presume it works with default scenery. Frame rates are ok on my specs, though there is a lot of loading going onat the beginning.London City is fine (i guess this was an older issue). Also there is the UKVFR autogen project which you might want to look at which includes some freeware autogen add-ons.Hope this helpsDan
May 27, 200521 yr Author Hi Dan,Thanks for your input. I may have a problem even if they have "improved frame rates" with my P4-2.4g, 5900XT video. 512mb. Do I need to have the VFR scenery and terrain for it to work properly??Thanks,Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
May 27, 200521 yr Hi Carl.,For sightseeing i think you will be ok with FPS. However, if you are on an approach to Heathrow, with lots of other activity (such as AI)etc then you may have problems. I dont like to say your framerates will be ok because every setup is slightly different. On my system i find framerates more than acceptable, however. What i do is turn the visuals down a little if flying over london on approach, but crank it up full-blast for sightseeing!. I do not think you need the UKVFR for it to work, but if you are concerned i would recommend joining the Visual Flight forum. I have not registered yet,but they all look a very helpful and friendly bunch, and they will be better placed to answer your framerate concerns. All the bestDan
May 27, 200521 yr It will definitely affect your framerates, no doubt about it. But, the scenery is quite nice and good for some sightseeing. I recommend it.KP
May 27, 200521 yr the runway 28 crash problem has been fixed and it no longer needs VFR terrain or photo scenery.
May 27, 200521 yr Author Thanks to all who provided help on this scenery. I was ready to take the plunge on this one,but elected to wait. Mainly because of my concern about having (1) adequate computer power to enjoy this scenery to the fullest potential and (2)the exchange rate for US dollar. (not vendor's fault). The conversion rate for US came out to be $30. I flew arouond in my citation X and was getting a range of 10-22 fps.(locked at 23fps.)with some London 3rd party scenery and AFCAD. To keep same settings I would assume I would take a big hit of fps and probably added stutters and reloads since only have 512bm.Regards to all,Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
