Bell 407 won't start

Featured Replies

Update on this:

Apparently, this has been an issue for some time. I have spent more time than I'd like to looking at this problem. I guess I should spend an equivalent amount of time researching an aircraft before I buy it.

I appears to be related to aircraft state based on what is loaded at P3D startup (sounds familiar.)

The other issues: have weather turned off and so on are just bizarre.

Will I never learn? Guess not.

The question must be asked: Is our children learning?

Are you holding the starter button down until ignition occurs?

Yes. I get a rise in temp, good fuel pressure and turbine sounds.

I have managed to get it started once; if I load a running aircraft (say the Debonair, for example) and then load the Bell, it started. When loading, the rotor is spinning with the Bell in a cold and dark state. I continued with a start sequence I read on the milviz forums and it started.

I'll try again and report back...

Any idea what the deal with the "start with no weather" is about? That's daft.

Tried again and it worked; load a running aircraft and then load the Bell. I have weather on and it's not nice: winds out of the SW @ 24 knots and I'm facing West..fwiw.

I guess I surrender. I found a way to start it so it's good enough. Now, where's my 747?

Spoke too soon. Not starting. I do surrender though.

As I understand it, only external weather programs are causing startup problems, and they affect more than just Milviz helos...

You will need to have loaded a running aircraft (default mooney) before starting pretty much any of our aircraft.  The reason for this is that it forces the sim to set certain variables.

Weather.. unfortunately, getting the start going in real weather is just a PITA.  Sorry but that's how it is...
