February 7, 201511 yr Hey guys, I have FTX Global and FTX Global Vector currently and I'm trying to decide on a few purchases. 1. Since I have FTX Global and Global Vector, is getting the new UTX 2.0 still a good purchase? Is it redundant or will it add to the roads, bridges, lakes, beaches, etc? 2. As far as a mesh addon, I am thinking either FS Genesis or FS Global Ultimate Bundle. The problem is FS Global Ultimate doesn't have a download, it's only DVD's which is a turnoff to me. So if I get FS Genesis, do I only need the FS Genesis World Terrain Mesh or should I also buy the United States and the Europe one? I plan on flying both in the USA and Europe alot but I don't understand why they have a "World Terrain mesh product" and then a "United States" and "NextMAP Europe Bundle". Wouldn't the World Terrain one be enough for the entire world? This is where I get confused. If you guys can help me with these few questions, it would be great. I want a little advice before I spend more money. Thanks. -Andrew Coste Andrew Coste
February 8, 201511 yr UT 2.0 is going to be a product very close to what Vectors does. Basically, they do the same thing, and they won't be compatible with each other. FS Global Ultimate has meshes that cover most of the world with varying LODs. Some are very high LOD (LOD11), while a lot is SRTM 76 m (LOD9). FS Genesis "World Terrain" mesh also covers most of the world, but with a fixed LOD (LOD9) that is going to be lower than its regional products (such as US and Europe). Think Orbx analogy. FTX Global = good detail, but less detail than it's regional products. I'm working on a freeware global mesh that is incorporating the newest SRTM LOD10 data. I think spending up to a $100 for elevation data is prohibitively expensive to most every day users. Daniel Moser
February 8, 201511 yr Good info, thanks mate. How does the mesh's varying LOD correlate to optimum settings in FSX? I mean, if I have FS Global Ultimate, which scenery setting should I use? Cheers,

Cheers, You'll only need to turn up the mesh resolution to the highest resolution that is presented in the data. The manuals should specify which minimum setting to use. I would just increase the mesh resolution to 10 m, as that will allow all resolutions up to 10 m to be rendered in FSX. Another tip is to increase LOD_Radius, so that the maximum detail is rendered further away, but you can run into VAS issues if you have a lot of detailed textures. Daniel Moser
