June 8, 200520 yr Well I can't get the thing to work. I've been in touch with the Megascenery folk about my problem, the program won't detect my SoCal scenery (it's the only megascenery I have) and they pointed me the new version 1.2. Still no joy with this new version. As I understand it you are supposed to be presented with a list of the Megascenery you have installed so you can "check" that scenery to be boosted, NOT HERE. Can't try if you can't get it to work.
June 9, 200520 yr Horizons Dallas sure looks a whole lot better than the Megascenery Dallas.Over twice the coverage area, better quality aerial photography, relocated objects, night lights (look more realistic IMO), choice of real water or interactive water, and the scenery works in all seasons on NTFS drives (not just XP, but 2000 aswell). Aparently they also have a utility to allow use on all seasons on FAT32 drives too.I know which one I'm buying.
June 9, 200520 yr > And it is pink, yes pink. I should have know>by the PINK colors when I was loading the scenery.Did you know much of the Desert has IRON OXIDE in the soil, so it does look pink?If you actually go to many areas in the southwest, colors run from Pink, to Orange, and almost Red, depending upon the amount of iron oxide. As an artist, who paints the southwest "Red Rock Country" this is the color which I use the most of, so have to buy it in large quantities.> And Dalls? >Ha! it looks like about 10 buildings in the middle of a>desert. I am extremley disappointed in this purchase.Have you been to Dallis? Ive been there, it is not like Boston or New York, Chicago, or even as many large buildings as LA... It is more like LA, which is huge because it is spread out over a very large area. You might compare the city, especially the metropolitan LA with the state of RI... in size. Texas is similar, so huge in size, with so much land, they buildings are spread out, rather than tall.> Load times? LOL, put that 8 GB's on your sim and watch it>slow to 5 minute load times just for the game to load, much>less a flight. Hope people dont get confused with game loading>time and flight loading time. Read carefully. It hasent even taken close to FIVE minutes to load on my system, even without the addon. Many times it can -seem- like five minutes when waiting for a program to load, by try timeing it with a stop watch. It does not even take 5 minutes on my system to load FS9 and MegaNow, as I dont fly in this area very much, dont know how much it will get used. Most of my flying is in CA or east to NV, AZ, Grand Canyon, or occasional trips around the world. (Once or Twice a year)... (Though knowing it is there, it may mean flying there from time to time. I bought it for the Free copies of the Mag, as I subscribe anyway, so it is like getting the Program FREE...)But, in my not so humble opinion, it would be most useful to those who live in or fly to this area frequently, and they might even be able to see their own house...
