Mega Scenery's Mega Booster

Featured Replies

I received an Email this evening from ,I think, the folks that make Megascenery, wanting to sell me a $10 add on to make Megascenery load faster. I don't mind spending money, but if I buy some scenery and the author of the scenery finds a way to make it work better with FS9, it kind of bothers me that I have to pay another $10 to get this improvement, so I won't, but I probably won't buy any more Megascenery either. http://www.megascenery.com/megabooster.htm

I received the same e-mail and had exactly the same reaction. I can see why I need to pay if does completely different thing. But making it load faster and run faster should be part of the product anyway. Why should the customers make to pay twice?I bought 4 Megasceneries and two Megacities so far. But this ill-thoughtout marketing ploy makes me really feel bad about this company. M TanYSCB

I tend to agree-especially after buying everyone one of their products. On trying it tonight on mega Seattle-it took almost 15 minutes to load-vs. a lot less before.Perhaps for slow old computers it helps but it seems to make matters worse on my 3.2 rig.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

If it required a few lines of code that was already known, then that's something else; but I surely doubt that's the case.I read an OPT-ED at Flightsim com. where the author compared FS2004 as the picture frame, yet it seems that so many simmers expect the pictures to fill it, to be free. So why should this improvement be "free", if it actually takes someone (quite possibly a real working person, who needs income like the rest of us) a fair amount of time, to make it happen? If a developer wants to throw a few bones (updates) to the public for free, that's one thing. But to publicly "boycott" the developer if they don't, tends to irratate me.L.Adamson

This works, not just for Mega scenary.. Its supposed to work for other Scenary loads as well, as per that web page... No? But of course...they could have put out a freebie that enhances their products... but why should they provide a tool for free that enhances their competitors products?Didn't Realair provide an improved VC for the SIA Marchett and charged for it (they were right to charge as well for they put in the extra work? how does that compare with this?

This program didn't work for me-in fact made matters much worse. Interested to see other's results with it....I really like much of the megascenery (I own all except Denver) but find I either unistall or avoid it because of the long load/performance issues.I guess one could look at this program as an improvement if it works (in my case it doesn't seem to)-on the other hand one can also look at it as a patch to make megascenery work in a non annoying manner that will make one actually want to use it after spending lots of $$$ on it.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

I seem to recall the word "Liar" used last week, quite extensivly, by someone known best, by you. That was far more of a personal attack, than I've ever mustered up. Wouldn't you agree?L.AdamsonAOPA "before" 1999

Well, I spent some time with this little program this evening and I got to tell you.. It really let me down... Here are the numbers,I run my MSFS on a P4 3.0 1GB Ram ATI 9800 PRO cardWithout the little utility it takes about 4.5 minutes to load the SFO Mega City Scenery. With the utility it still takes little over 4 minutes.I am glad this was a try before you buy one... 11 bucks isn't much, but I was really expecting a significant change. As for using it with other scenery of this type, I don't see where it does because it detects Mega Scenery add ons only and there is no mention of using it with other scenery in the manual.Thats my two cents anyways...Gene
