June 6, 200520 yr I'll just echo what I said at the Mega forums:It is as if Microsoft would first release FS10, then some time later post an announcement to the effect of"Are you tired of low framerates and stutters? We've all experienced it - the framerate of our new sim is terible, we know. Sometimes it's so low you can't even land because it stutters too much. Not any more with our Flight Sim Booster! Buy now for $20".If it actually worked for all photoreal sceneries (I see no reason why it would not, technically all photoreal sceneries work the same way), asking for money for it would be justified since it would be a generic utility that worked even with competing products. However since it's locked to Megascenery - well, the company should make sure THEIR product works as optimally as possible - after all, I've read many posts at other forums from people who returned their Megascenery because of blurries/loading time and also from people who were wary of buying a Megscenery product at all because of this. Indeed if this utility was included on the disc, Mega might sell better."Actually it is their fault, since they created the scenery, IMHO."Not really. There's only one way to create photoreal scenery for FS2004. This method does have drawbacks, namely loading time and blurries. The only way to get around that is to not create photoreal sceneries :) -
June 6, 200520 yr Its a free #### country thank god and they can charge whatever they want. But that isnt the point. Does it work and is it any good? I bought the Dallas mega as my first and LAST add-on scenery. I can fly over it in about 2 minutes. Its extremly small. And it is pink, yes pink. I should have know by the PINK colors when I was loading the scenery. And Dalls? Ha! it looks like about 10 buildings in the middle of a desert. I am extremley disappointed in this purchase. The only thing that made it worth the value was the free 6 months to PCaviator mag. Mega scenery (Dallas) is no value for the money either. Its half the price of an 8 GB scenery from Fsglobal. 8 GB's !! Good lord, you can buy Fs9 for less then 10.00 more than a mega product. Load times? LOL, put that 8 GB's on your sim and watch it slow to 5 minute load times just for the game to load, much less a flight. Hope people dont get confused with game loading time and flight loading time. Read carefully. I also got the "tweaking" email from them before the scenery arrived. I wonder if the 10.95 program is simply the same tweaks they sent me in that email? The claims on their Tweaking email were as preposterous as the claims on this Mega-accelerator. They are claiming a 200% increase from a Raid 0 setup. Preposterous again. It all appears to be a very "wordy" and carefully crafted advertising gimmick.Free counrty, remember guys? Free, free , they charge what they want. Its in OUR power to not support or buy what we dont want.
June 6, 200520 yr Wow, that MegaBooster site looks just like your average "buy Viagra online" junkpage!! That certainly don't make a serious impression on me!! :-erks :-lol rgrds fredrik
June 6, 200520 yr WellI was toying with the idea of buying a couple of their sceneries but this has put me right off. They have every right to milk the FS community for every cent they can get but they won`t get it from me.Troy

So you have not seen/worked with So cal Megascenary? Please folks.. a such a strong opinion from a person who has tried one teenybit of what Megascenary offers.. has only certain weightage. I bet... you haven't seen this..http://www.pcaviator.com/megascenery/forum...p?showtopic=523 Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 6, 200520 yr "I bet... you haven't seen this..http://www.pcaviator.com/megascenery/forum...p?showtopic=523Man, I really have no desire to get any mega scenery now, do they look that blurry to everyone or can it be adjusted to be sharper?? I tried the So Cal one on a friends machine and that blurryness is what turned me off, I was hoping it had gotten better as I really wanted to get the DFW one since I live here. I had seen another pic of the DFW one from someone elses machine and like noted above, downtown only had a few buildings and the textures looked washed out and blurry. My friend is fine with the blurry/ low res city textures and has a few titles, guess to each his own, just not for me.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
June 6, 200520 yr "do they look that blurry to everyone or can it be adjusted to be sharper??"It can't be adjusted as such but on a properly configured system it looks better.Megascenery PNW:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/118809.jpg -
June 6, 200520 yr Bob, I made some time comparisons. I used the Pacific Northwest scenery, and compared the start up times, from when you press the FLY NOW button, until the time it starts (that is the load time).I rebooted between each test so as to have the same start point. With OUT using megabooster: 2 minutes 39 seconds (1st test)With OUT using megabooster: 2 minutes 12 seconds (just to confirm 1st test)WITH megabooster: 2 minutes 20 secondsWith megabooster and using the added extra boost feature: 2 minutes 13 secondsSo, as you can see, it does not reduce my startup times. Also, I noticed some stutters, that I normally do not see once flying? My system is 3.4 Ghz, with 1GB memory. Windows XP professionaljim b
June 6, 200520 yr I live in the DFW area and I'm very pleased with the Dallas MegaCity scenery. I am not experiencing the problems you've mentioned or any "pinkness" in the scenery! The MegaCity sceneries were meant to be flown at about 2000ft in a slow flying aircraft...maybe you're going to fast for the textures to keep up. I have a modest system...p4-2.66, 1 gig ram and a ATI9700 pro and have not tried the "booster" but my Dallas looks like this:do not link to images on other sitesAlso, I didn't utilize any of their "tweaking" suggestions and have just about every slider (except clouds) maxed out. June 6, 200520 yr PC Aviators response here...scroll down to the 5th post:http://www.pcaviator.com/megascenery/forum...topic=876&st=15 System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2 SSD for Windows 11 Home, 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor, Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.
June 6, 200520 yr Those shots of Dallas look great! The only thing it appears they were a bit skimpy on the autogen this time around. Could be a bit "flat" during landing but the shots at that level look superb.I think overall their products are top notch. I have several. Sure some of them will be better than some of their others but that's for you to decide. I highly recommend their scenery. As for the 'booster', well read what everyone has to say, cut that in half, then try it for myself! ;-)
June 7, 200520 yr Those screenshots posted by northtexas...Is that kind of scenery made by "draping" a photograph over the mesh? Just curious :)
June 7, 200520 yr I guess so..it is draping over a mesh...except for Dallas ..the mesh is pretty flat.:) Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 7, 200520 yr Let me clarify....I got those pix from the MegaCities site but that is how it looks on my computer.
