This reminds me of when I flew out of Luxor back to Cairo in 1983 or so.  It was open seating and there was no jetway or bus, so everyone ran to the plane.

I had that very same experience in 1985 with Kenya Airways in Bombay :-) 

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds
