Hi Bruce, must be the day of the stray default files ;-)Banff and Jasper are covered by two other default files, HP917130.bgl and HP917140.bgl, which you should deactivate/rename if you're using my bcmesh9e.zip or bcablakefixv2.zip (see the instructions).Indeed, Banff CYBA is in a ditch. That's because the airfield is in the wrong position. In the real world it sits north of the Trans Canada Highway. I didn't try to move it to its accurate position because that's a pretty complicated process and it would interfere with existing add-ons for CYBA. Anyone who wants to give a shot at relocating should read this thread: http://www.flightsimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35920Cheers, Holger

Hi Mark (again),I found that "pool table" airfield as well--until I more closely scrutinized Holger's explicit instructions. The "blended" look appears when you (we) place the new "Holger Enhancements" above the Ultimate Terrain scenery entry. (That is, the "Enhancement" has higher priority. Or it has a "layer number" greater than the Ultimate Terrain Canada entry. I know, this is confusing.)Best,Mike BTW. Thanks so much for your work on the DC-3s. Am a big fan of your efforts all around.

Aha, that's interesting, Mike. I'm too poor to afford any payware so am only using Holger's mesh over default; I do not have the Ultimate Terrain scenery. Thanks for your DC-3 comments. Lots more to come! We have some fun projects afoot.Holger, I use Gerrit Kranenburg's Blue Sphere replacement textures, yes, which I think are amazingly good. To me, they give just the right amount of atmospheric perspective; I find the default scenery too stark on a clear day. Horses for courses, I suppose.Glad to see your note about Banff, too. I had the same "default" files still there, despite following your instructions very carefully at the time and backing up the orginals. So somewhere, someone has snuck these four files back into my rig. For what it might be worth, I had to rename RR916130, RR916140, and RR917130 in order to get rid of the default railroads as well

If I'm not mistaken, the new enhancements Holger has released are desinged specifically for use with Ultimate Terrain (other than the mesh I presume).

Correct. I have only used his mesh personally (weep, sob, dig hands deep in empty pockets ....)Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg[/a]

Hi all, just trying to minimize confusion...The new mesh package I uploaded, sebclod9.zip, is just that: a set of terrain mesh files that gives the world's surface its shape. It works with default FS, with my previously uploaded landscape enhancements (bcmesh9d, bcmesh9e, bcmeshp2), with Ultimate Terrain, and/or as a buffer mesh for the LOD10 FSG Cordillera mesh (or similar high-res mesh files). The other file, ut_bc_hs.zip, is ONLY for users of the payware Ultimate Terrain: CanadaAlaska package. It's a re-issue of the landscape enhancement packages listed above (plus a few others) and was "necessary" because they didn't work with UT in their original state. Thus, if you don't use UT then you would install sebclod9.zip with bcmesh9d, bcmesh9e, bcmeshp2. If you do own UT then all you need is ut_bc_hs.zip (and love, of course :-) ). Also, if anyone wonders what the difference is between the mesh files of bcmesh9d/9e and the new version: the previous files were made from Shuttle Radar data of approx. 90-m resolution. Nice enough but the source data are full of holes, particularly in steep valleys and over glaciers. Thus, some of the characteristic rockwalls of the Rockies looked more like rounded hills. The new CDED1 elevation data have a much higher resolution (23 m) and don't have any missing data. The main reason I compiled the data as LOD9 (76m) is the size limit of 100MB allowed at Avsim and other websites.Cheers, Holger

Thanks again Holger:I have UT. Like a dummy I installed both sebclod9.zip and ut_bc+hs.zip (bet I am not the only one). I will delete the sebclod9 installation.Your patience is greatly appreciated.RTH

Howdy, oops, so much for ending the confusion!you don't have to delete sebclod9.zip. It's a mesh file and will work just fine with UT and even if you already have FSG Cordillera it'll increase your mid to far distance detail. What I meant by "If you do own UT then all you need is ut_bc_hs.zip" was that you should not install bcmesh9d, bcmesh9e, or bcmeshp2.Sorry, I think I need an editor!Cheers, Holger

No Problem!"Need and editor" - Don't we all! I think I need an interpreter some of the time as well. Don't understand my own language.Have a good day and your fine work is appreciated.RTH

Hi everyone, and especially Holger. I think I have followed all instructions, but clearly something is way out of wack. Here's the scenario:I installed and have been happy with Holger's British Columbia Rockies beginning with BCMesh9d.But, with the recent spate of addons and improvements, I have screwed things up on a royal scale with spurious artifacts, roads over water, unreal layers, etc. You name it, I've done it. So, what I want to do is wipe the slate clean and start over, probably by reinstalling the basic FS9 sceneries from Cab8 on disk 3, particularly in scenery/namw. Short of that, can someone please give me a step by step package installation guide. By that I mean whether I should build on existing BC mesh from Holger, or use only the more recent mesh package that came out last week? Also, what about bcmeshp2, bcmesh9d, bcmesh9e, sebclod9 and maybe others I have missed. btw, I have been as careful as I know how to be in removing or renaming the various *.bgl's as specified in the docs. I guess my problem is that at this point, I want to repair the damage, and simply do not know what I need or where to begin. In other words, in what order should the various packages be installed? If you have read this far, a big thank you, and if you can give the solution, an even bigger and grateful thank you!Sherm

Hi Sherm, poor man! My apologies about the "mess".If you start afresh with the southern Canadian Rockies you will only need two files of mine: sebclod9.zip and bcablakefixv2.zip (available at FSGenesis: http://portal.fsgenesis.net/modules.php?op...wdownload&cid=5 ). The former provides the terrain mesh and the latter is a compilation of all the landscape enhancements contained in bcmesh9d, bcmesh9e, and bcmeshp2.Keep the contents of sebclod9 in "BC-AB CDED1 terrain mesh" and those of bcablakefixv2 in "BC-AB scenery upgrades FS2004", then add both to the scenery library (order doesn't matter). The remaining (and tricky) stuff to do is to disable the default landscape files as described in the docs for bcablakefixv2.Also, if you're using Larry Silsbee's Grand Coulee dam scenery you should uninstall that first and then re-install it after you've installed and checked my files.Hope that helps. Good luck.Cheers, Holger

While reconfiguring my scenery files and trying to rethink things, I learned that it is actually possible to part the red sea on FS:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119396.jpgThen, I rejiggered scenery files one more time, I rebooted, and went back to Revelstoke, same perspective, but an entirely different image:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119398.jpgSo, my question is, Have I solved my own problem and is this how Revelstoke should look?Again, thanks for the time and considerationbtw, Evidently, Holger answered my question as I was posting this. Thanks, Holger!Sherm

thanks, holger. I have the files and will begin the reinstall, but I hope I get your feedback on my "miracle" post so you can tell me whether the high cliffs around revelstoke should be there, or not.Sherm

Hi Sherm, funny you should mention Revelstoke because it's due to the "mess" in the default FS9 at Revelstoke and CYCG that my project for "rebuilding" southeastern B.C. originally started. With FS9 the design team introduced the ability to have sloping water. They implemented this for the larger rivers (in FS2002 we had "steps" in river water instead) but neglected to check in places where hydro dams actually do create mad-made steps in the rivers. Thus, instead of recreating the hydro dams along the Columbia River at Revelstoke, Castlegar, and elsewhere, we ended up with gradual sloping water that rise high above the surrounding terrain. Here's a shot of the default Revelstoke: http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119423.jpgAnd here's how it should look like after installing sebclod9.zip and bcablakefixv2.zip:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119424.jpgOr like this if you're using Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska with sebclod9.zip and ut_bc_hs.zip:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/119425.jpgCheers, Holger
