October 12, 201510 yr Tried HT ON/OFF with and without AM (254) in P3D V3. With HT ON less FPS and much higher temperatures (84 deg C.) with 4790K @ 4.5 GHz. I leave HT OFF. Likewise, HT OFF on my 4790K at 4.7Ghz. I use AM=14 and have found it to be the best for a HT OFF set up. Physical Core 0 is now relqtively idle, while Core's 1-2-3 are taking most of the P3D 3.0 load. Versus the default no AM entry which is the same as AM=15 and results in a heavily loaded Core 0 and very low load on Core's 1-2-3. P3D 3.0 will not make use of all Available threads as far as I am aware (being based largely on Microsoft's ESP engine). Hence HT OFF gives me lower temps and more margin in running a stable overclock on my 4790K. Which has always been the case. If on the other hand you are doing major video encoding using software capable of running that many threads (or any other CPU intensive software designed of taking advatage of all CPU threads) then HT ON albeit with a slighly lower overclock to maintain similar temps (with the higher overclock set up under HT OFF) will be the better choice by far.
