March 31, 201511 yr Author Well reading the reports we know these items: Aircraft was on a holding pattern for almost an hour waiting for weather to improve. Rwy 05 is only a back course LLZ/DME approach. The runway is located at 1.7nm DME from the antenna RWY05 is elevated by around 100ft above the surrounding terrain. Aircraft made an approach and was well below the DME minimums almost from the start of its approach. It touched down short of the airport perimiter fence, took out the Power Lines which caused a massive blackout in the area, including the airport itself. It then crashed through the airport perimeter fence, lost its landing gear, slid on its belly UPHILL on the berm, taking out the runway approach lights in the process. Once the aircraft made it to the top of the berm, it continued to slide and finally made it onto the runway itself where it came to stop just to the side, about 200m into it. Absolutely amazing how well the airframe held together. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
