March 29, 201511 yr Hello all Avsimmers I just ordered at new PC since my old rig is on the edge of running FSX. Here is my new setup: - asus maximus VII ranger Z97 - Intel Core i7 4770K 3,5 GHz (Haswell) - Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) CL9 1866MHz Vengeance - Gigabyte GTX 980 4GB OC - EVGA Supernova G2 750W, 80+ Gold My question to guys, ofcourse some feedback on the setup but also another one. I noticed on the website i ordered it there also was a Intel Core i7 4790K with 4.0GHz out of the box for about 20$ cheaper. So should i go with the 4770K 3,5GHz and maybe OC it to 4.0 - 4.2 GHz or the 4790K 4.0GHz out of the box. I appreciate all your feedback. Best regards Nicko
March 29, 201511 yr Be careful as there are a number of different models of the 4790. The best version has a base frequency of 4GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.4GHz. There is another version which has a base frequency of 3.6GHz and a turbo of 4GHz - cheaper but not as capable. If you can get the 4/4.4GHz version of the 4790 cheaper than the 4770 then I would definitely go for it. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3
