April 1, 201511 yr I can't believe It took me so long to buy this, OMG THE DETAIL is superb, I am doing the 1st mission/Training and I have no words.....my jaw dropped from the top floor in my building to the main lobby :o Missions are in real-time/skip button provided.......some missions take days, weeks, mission control chatter/ATC talks to you throughout helping/guiding you on the tasks, etc.......Incredible devs. Avsim Review: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0408/SSM/Shuttle.htm http://www.space-shuttle-mission.com/index.html The Space Shuttle Mission Simulator ™ is the most exciting space shuttle simulator available today for Windows, designed to provide the experience and excitement of the NASA Space Shuttle missions in extreme detail. Features: Accurate and detailed 3D models of the Space Shuttle Accurate 3D model of the International Space Station Accurate 3D models of satellites and other mission-related objects Beautifully rendered Space Shuttle 3D virtual cockpit and 3D sound effects High-Resolution TrueEarth™ Global Satellite Imagery – licensed from TerraMetrics Inc. These are the same textures used by Google Earth. Watch the countdown and Shuttle Launch from the place that few get to see it: the VIP spot at KSC. Experience the Liftoff shakes and engines roar right from the Commander's or Pilot's seats. Perform mission procedures: press buttons, rotate knobs, control and change General Purpose Computer modes and manually guide the Shuttle to a safe landing etc. First Person View, including EVA – you cannot get any closer to the ISS or Hubble than that! Third Person View and Free Camera View throughout the missions – watch the Space Shuttle and any space object from angles that even Astronauts never got to see. Monitor the progress from the Mission Control Center Multiple Astronauts login complete with personal Astronauts Achievements records and Multiple Mission Saves Launch Control, Mission Control, Shuttle and Astronauts audio communications. Three difficulty modes: from Novice which leads the "astronaut" through the tasks with context arrows and full text subtitles, to "Read the Manual and Checklists Commander!" Documentation: "Quick Start" and "Commander's Reference Manual". Variable-difficulty historical missions from STS-1 (the maiden flight) and up to the recent ones. Expandable: we periodically release new missions and features, enhancing playability and sim life. TrackIR Support in 3D Virtual Cockpit and first person view during EVA Multiple Screens support for Matrox TripleHead2Go and Nvidia nView Native support for Vuzix iWear VR920 Stereoscopic goggles + head tracking. This is the closest you can get to the NASA VR Labs where Shuttle Astronauts train for ISS missions. https://youtu.be/0HrwIRdVPqc https://youtu.be/SvPZEAxasu0 Edited April 1, 201511 yr by firehawk44 Removed "OMFG!" from the title. May not be polite interpretations.
August 19, 201510 yr Had it on the HD couple years back, actually forgot about it, pretty good Shuttle sim, however the one I really liked was Eagle Lander 3D, very accurate sim of the Apollo moon landings, you start with Apollo 11 and the other Apollo missions plug in, simulates docking from the SIVB, lunar landing, liftoff, and re-docking with the command module.
August 19, 201510 yr Have you guys heard of Project Apollo/NASSP? Its an open-source project for Orbiter 2010, which currently has a near full implementation of the CSM instrument panels, requiring the original NASA checklists to operate. The project is based on "Virtual AGC" which is an emulation of the actual Apollo Guidance Computer, so you are basically running the actual flown guidance software within the simulation. http://nassp.sourceforge.net/wiki/Main_Page http://www.ibiblio.org/apollo/

August 23, 201510 yr Space Shuttle Mission Simulator 2 is in development, but I am not certain when it is going to be released... From what I understand it's very unlikely that it will ever be released. It has been stated for many years that it's close to being finished and that development continues at a slower pace. I have been considering buying the one that exist but I'm somewhat concerned about the possibility to get support if needed.
August 23, 201510 yr One of the developers got a serious illness, and progress was put on hold indefinitely. Sadly, that person passed away However, development has restarted, so I am hopeful that we will see it in the not too distant future. A handful of screenshots have been posted on the forum.
