Blank screens

Featured Replies

Hi,

I installed the 737 NGX on Prepar3d v2.5 (Academic) on Windows 8.1 and all the screens are blank. No switches work. Doesn't matter if i use the 2D or 3D panel. I was also never asked for my license key upon loading the airplane in Prepar3d.

I installed all updates in the Operations Center, a recent Nvidia driver and i have nothing pending in Windows Update. I have a valid Prepar3d and 737NGX license. Any idea how to fix this please?

There should be a README file included in the download that explains this, but to save you the time:

This issue is probably caused by an incorrect SimConnect runtime installation on your computer, follow these instructions to fix it:
  1. Navigate to this folder:
    <P3D root folder>\redist\FSX-RTM\lib

  2. Run the SimConnect.msi installer file inside the folder.

  3. Repeat the process in the FSX-SP1\lib and FSX-SP2-XPACK\lib folders.

Also, full names in the forum, please.

Thanks, that worked.

What do you mean by full names? Instead of nicknames? Maybe support should be a good example and change first?

Thanks, that worked.

He means to put all your names after your post. Or in your signature.

I mean, if you look at the bottom of my posts, you'll see that my full name. If you're on a mobile browser, it cuts the auto-signature off by default, so you may not be seeing it at the moment.

I have the same problem. All blank screens after installation on P3D v2.5. I have reinstalled the NGX, I have followed all the steps in the README file mentioned above, but nothing changed. The only way I can make the NGX load and work properly is to load and start a flight with a different aircraft (default a/c) and then when the loaded aircraft is sitting on the ramp, load the NGX. In this way it works but it is not clearly the way it is designed to work...

Any suggestions to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, it is. Read the into manual. It specifically states that you should not use the NGX as the default aircraft at all, ever.

Load a default aircraft when you launch the sim, and only then should you load the NGX.

Kyle,

thank you for your answer but I am not sure it applies to my situation. This is reported from the PMDG NGX for P3D Introduction:

"There is a common misconception that when loading a complex simulation like the PMDG 737NGX that you should first load the default Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 737NGX on top of it. This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommend the practice at all. What is required however is for a default aircraft to be your default startup flight in P3D. The reason for this is that this flight actually loads in the background invisible to the user – if it’s set to a complex addon it can result in the inability to set certain internal variables that the 737 relies on until the simulator is restarted".

Actually, I am not using the NGX as default aircraft. When I launch P3D, the default start up scenario screen opens with a default aircraft (I believe it is the F22) which I think is what is required by the Manual, and then I load the NGX, select the departure airport, date and time, etc..... If then I launch the flight the NGX will not work. On the other hand if I leave the default aircraft selected, launch the flight and then, once the scenario is loaded and the aircraft is sitting on the ramp I open the "vehicles" menu and load the NGX everything works OK.

Is that normal ? I am not sure I explained it well in my previous post.

This is how it's supposed to work. You're interpreting the intro manual correctly.

There must be something wrong with your installation. Mine works just fine without the extra steps required in your sim - support.precisionmanuals.com
