The majority of the FTX freeware does require the specific region in which they belong. The exception are the "freeware ftx global airports", which are generally matched to the FTX Global product. They do have some freeware / demo standalone 'mini' regions however. Another option for you might be the freeware stuff available for Australia over at OZx. Lots and lots of little dirt strips there.
