3rd monitor setup with GTX 780 GPU

Featured Replies

I have 1 monitor setup already, the jetmax CDU or the FMS from the 737, its basically a little screen. and its connected with a VGA to my PC with my DVI-D connector.

today i received my DVI-I connector to connect my 3rd monitor LCD screen 12.1 but when i connect my 3rd monitor up nothing is turning on or getting recognised in DISPLAY, SCREEN RESOLUTION ?

am i missing something?

i'm using windows 7 and my GPU is a GTX780

Its that DVI - I port that seem not to be working as both my screens work on the DVI - D port?

Vernon Howells

Sometimes you will need to go into the Nvidia control panel and enable it there. Also -   are you absolutely sure that the adapter you have supports Dual Link DVI-I? If memory serves if it's not rated for Dual Link it will give issues. You can search the various DVI connectors on google, there are lots of pics with the pinouts - even if the cable will sometimes plug in ther may be pins missing. I suggest carefully comparing the pinout of the cable compared to what you see on the back of your card, if not all pins are populated then you probably don't have the right adapter.

VGA is analog only.

DVI-D is digital only.

Your going to need some type of digital to analog converter/adapter.

Your gpu probably came with a DVI-D <-> VGA adaptor

Hi, i bought 2 adapters 1 for my DVI I and 1 for my DVI D

I have my MAIN monitor and 2 monitors i'm wanting to connect up to my PC. My DVI I port is working fine, i've tried both monitors on this port and they work fine. Its just my DVI D port thats not working?

Vernon,

I tried to set up a three monitor 'panoramic' view using Nvidia surround in FSX with a 670GTX and ended up very disappointed.

Before you invest large sums of cash, it's best to know a few things which I did not know before I started. Getting the monitors set up was fine.

First, Nvidia surround will only work in a virtual cockpit. That will probably suit a lot of folks. The problem arises if you try to use any 2D popups e.g. GPS, map, radio. When you do that you get a spinning top and the program freezes.  There are workarounds but they are laborious and must be done separately for each aircraft.

The second problem I had, and could not live with, was that the edges of the VC view become stretched and look very unrealistic. This produced nausea, especially in turns. I am a retired pilot and could tolerate a lot in the RW before I ever experienced that.

I do not know if the Matrox set up is better in these two regards than Nvidia surround. From what I can gather if you really want a faithful all singing, all dancing triple monitor view, you need to think about WideView - that means running three identical PCs in tandem.

Hi john!

My monitors aren't for FSX use during game play.

1 monitor is used for vatsim so i can speak on Vpilot

2nd monitor is for my CDU for the 737 NGX i got from jetmax

Somehow my DVI D port isn't working, its not even picking it up, my DVI I port is working fine.

Yes you do.

As I said above:

DVI-D is digital only.

Your going to need some type of digital to analog converter/adapter.

Well there are at least 15 reviews on that Amazon site saying it does work.
