July 20, 201510 yr Hello, I've been using skyvector for years and found it a wonderful tool. Now they have come up with a new flight planning tool which is automatic and is not userfriendly with no flexebilty. It may be useful but for me it is useless. I wish we had the possibility to use either the old and convenient system or the new one. I am really dissapointed by this new tool. In the meantime has anybody succeeded in deleting waypoints? The delete function does not show! Why change something which works by something which does not? My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
July 20, 201510 yr Yikes! That must have just changed over the last day or so. I agree - I like the old route design tool much better. Being able to construct a flight of numerous waypoints and drag/drop to rearrange was great. Not sure if there is some way to still do that. I like the log view but do prefer the old way. [edit] FWIW it looks like they have added functionality to log in and save plans. So, that's a step in the right direction. [edit] backtracking a little... I still prefer the old planning view; however, you can still add nav points by dragging the route line. The waypoints are now more flight-plan-style. H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 20, 201510 yr Hi. After a couple of minutes playing... To delete a waypoint, left-click on the waypoint and choose the 'DEL' button for Delete Waypoint in the popup dialogue box. To add a new wpt, left-click the location on the map and choose the 'PLAN' button either for GPS co-ords or physical location from the popup box. To insert a waypoint between two others (i. e. in the middle of an existing leg) hover over the pink leg line and left-drag it to the desired point. On releasing, choose the appropriate 'PLAN' button from the popup box. Once you've created the plan on the map, you can refine and add a/c detail et c. by clicking on 'Flight Plan' top left just under the SkyVector logo. It seems simple to me but then I'd never used the previous version so I don't have anything with which to compare it. When deleting a waypoint you do have to be accurate with the position of the mouse and I feel that different crosshairs for leg and waypoint would be very useful in helping to distinguish. Regards, D edit... all this seems to match what I infer of the original planner so have SkyVector changed back again already?
July 20, 201510 yr Looks pretty good - the version I'm looking at is definitely new - lots of new functions and a new interface.I was able to knock up a route quickly and edit it without problem. The ability to save the flight, and produce an instant flight log (including winds aloft) is pretty cool. Eugene
July 20, 201510 yr Author Hello, Yes I tried the left click to delete a waypoint but somehow nothing showed. I tried again a few hours later with another computer and now it is working. That is strange! I still prefer the old version where the wyapoints/routes were way easier to read. My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/

August 16, 201510 yr Skyvector have produced a video walk-through of the new features here: I found it quite useful. Eugene
January 25, 201610 yr I've been using SkyVector since its inception for both real and simulator flight planning. I've - in real life as well - been around Washington State, Florida and Caribbean (incl an occasional flight to Cuba). When it comes to EU where I fly in business often to UK (Manchester, Birmingham and London City), France and Algiers it has been of great help. I use NATS Aeronautical Information Service for my plates in EU and SkyVector for USA. As you can see SkyVector works great. And BTW, I got it working in my Amazon tablet to see charts etc... The SkyVector team is developing a great product one step at a time. Nighthawk
