I have no fs9.cfg file?!

Featured Replies

I recently got a new computer and installed FS9. However, when I look in the usual folder (C:Documents and Settings/My Name) there is no Application Data folder and hence, no fs9 config. Does anyone know what is going on?

In Windows Explorer:Tools/Folder Options/View/Show Hidden Files and Folders-ONThen you will see the Application Data folder.

I vote that this is the Number #1 most asked, yet most easily searched question on AVSIM over the last 2 years.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

Thanks for your vote. Now, what would you put in as your search parameters? The obvious, "fs9.cfg," brings up nothing useful.

Thanks, I feel dumb since I'm used to having the show folders on with my old computer, so that was pretty obvious. And yes, I tried two different searches without any results.

Oh, perhaps looking in the sub-forum at the top of this forum that is rather obscurely titled: MS Flight Simulator Tips and Tricks...Then, looking at the very first message: READ ME FIRST! Pages 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 - The FSCOF/2004/9 FAQ Post!///////////////////////////////////////////////Q) Where is the configuration file now located?A) It will be located in your personal Application Data folder. On Windows 2000/XP systems, this is located in Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftFS9FS9.cfg (for Windows 9x users the path is WindowsApplication DataMicrosoftFS9fs9.cfg). The Application Data folder is hidden, so you will need to enable viewing of hidden files/folders under the Folder Options in your Explorer.SHAMELESS PLUG: You can get my FS9 Configurator to help view/edit this file and much more! http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...util&DLID=36310

I truly apologize for ruining your "Avsim Forum Experience". If you'd like, you can PM me your home address and I can send you a fruit basket and hopefully the Gods will forgive me for breaking the 11th commandment. For now I shall hang my head in shame every time I read the message board.

Especially because "Search," which is always recommended that people do, did NOT bring up that thread. And the Subject, "Flight Simulator Tips and Tricks" is not exactly descriptive enough to believe that the answer was in there. Nice to have sarcasm from the "forum police" though, isn't it?

>Thanks, I feel dumb since I'm used to having the show folders>on with my old computer, so that was pretty obvious. And yes,>I tried two different searches without any results. sorry about my post, probably just my mood at the timeThe first search I tried is 'cfg location', on the very first page, about the 8th post you will get a hit. There are about 10 pages or so as a follow on.again, accept my apologies, feel free to ask anytime you need a bit of help.

No need to apologize, I understand it can be annoying seeing the same post twice. I don't mind people telling me to search once, but two posts saying I could have searched smells of hypocracy. Again, thanks for the help :)
