Cirrus - What an addon!

Featured Replies

I was very surprised to find little or no mention on here of Guenter Kraemer's superb little Cirrus aircraft for FS2004http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...004ac&Go=Searchcirrus2six.zipI flew a "real" version of this super GA tourer from my local airfield a few weeks ago and was particularily pleased to find such an excellent simulation of it available at AVSIM for my FS2004 collection.I was quite amazed at the amount of detail and complexity that has gone into modelling this FREEWARE aircraft. Sharp 2D panel, very acceptable VC (slightly blurred but so are some payware VCs). Nice exterior modelling and a very comprehensive avionics equipment list.Flight Dynamics are excellent and to cap it all Guenter has even replicated the unique emergency "parachute" sequence from the real aircraft.Great little GA addon. Payware quality for zilch. Thanks Guenter:)RegardsAdamFS9.1Win XPPrescott 3.20 GHz - 2GB RAMAsus ATi Radeon X800 Pro TD 256MBOmega Radeon ATI Drivers19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 100hzAudiophile 24/96 AudioJAR PPL/IMC

Guenter's Cirrus gathered quite a bit of attention on first release. It's a great little aircraft. I'm one of many who feel I don't give these freeware authors enough recognition. If I were to make one screenshot post a day, I think it would take well over a year to give credit to every freeware author that deserves such praise. And I suspect a good three months of that would be spent just paying tribute to all of Erick Cantu's work in the "heavy metal" aircraft genre :)-John

Hi Adam,I agree, it is one fine aircraft. Over 7760+ Downloads plus on the other sites where it is hosted. They did an awesome time, and if one follows the procedure for Parachute deployment, it works pretty well. Thanks again, Guenter. There are also some repaints available. This one is my favorite, which I currently am using:Cirrus US Markings Repaint:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...acrp&DLID=67071.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123413.jpg..All in all, an excellent aircraft. I have also satisfied my need for a Glass cockpit with the new AOPA Commander. :-)Those are the two I'm flying right now, but I'm a GA Guy anyway.Regards,Joeaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

I love all aspects of Cirrus Design. If they werent so pricey, i would allready have time in one. That and no FBO's in the Houston/Metro area have any.Therefor, i have no time in one.. :( His freeware SR20 is a great aircraft, and i cath my self flying it often. With ESDG's payware of the SR20 nearing release (with beta testing and all, i recon its close :-) ) and the release of the SR22 hot on its heals, the FS community is about to go cirrus crazy.. :-)As far as teh FDE's go for Guenter's, again, i dont have time in one, but it seems touchy.. But i love the bird and have the hang of it and fly it on a near daily basis.

Perhaps you might want to start your own club and buy one. They are really very reasonbly priced for what you get, at least they used to be. I was on the verge of buying one myself a few years back.Thomas

Ive requested info several times.Basicly, its screws people over with the Downpayment on a $334K plane, and your payments are around 2500 a month.I can buy a nice new house for that here in houston. And not a small one, im talking about one on a lake with about 3500 or 4000 sqft.

I wouldn't buy a Cirrus...expensive and the useful load is pretty bad.

Mainly designed for about 2 people on a weekend get away. Id put my dogs in the back seats. When you get 184knot cruise, 175ft ceeling, Avidyne Entegra Flightmax, dual garmin 430/transponder/autopilot, leather seats, a/c, urbocharged engine, that kinda tends to the 334K price tagl. Very nice though..

Don't forget the parachute.:-eek Those aircraft are well worth every penny, and the sales figures show it. -Shawn
