I added a FSX / P3D bird autogen application to Simviation. The author of the models used asked me to host it on that site.

Are they animated or static?

The bird models themselves aren't animated, but they have been given direction and velocity relative to the ground, so even hovering a chopper, they will be moving past you. Even without flapping, the effect is fairly good.

You should be able to add animated (flapping) bird models if you have them. Hopefully a 3D modeller might do this for everyone. I don't have those skills quite yet.
