Missing Textures

Featured Replies

Hello, I fired up P3D tonight and am having issues with textures not loading.  The error messages are:

Failed to load texture: GLASS_LM.BMP

TRANSP_RAILING2.BMP

TRANSP_RAILING2_LM.BMP

GLOBALENV2.BMP

METALPANEL2A.BMP

METALPANEL2A_LM.BMP

A search of the P3D folder did not turn up these files.

Any idea what's going on here/how to fix it?  The only thing I had done since P3D last worked properly was install OpenLC North America tonight.

Thanks

Dave

I am not saying this is the case but FTX has on occasion modified core simulator files - you might want to ask over at the FTX forum.

After installing Open LC did you then re-run the FTX Central V2 installer to ensure the library files are installed and that Open LC is correctly activated ?

Thanks for the responses. Did you mean to re-install ftx central v2 or cycle ftx central global mode off and on?

I mean install the library files again, then check in FTX Central V2 that they are active. But cycling Global should also do the same thing.

FTXC2 has become a lot more intelligent within the past 24 hours (no joke).  When I opened it this morning to aid someone's question at the ORBX forum, I received two instant notifications that #1 PAHO had an update, which I allowed it to install and #2 That new ORBX library was available, which again, I allowed to install.  Using FTXC2 will be tantamount in running before you fire up a sim.

I reinstalled the libraries and that seemed to remove some errors but I think I have a bigger problem.  When in P3D I'm getting additional errors about textures failing to load.  Some I can confirm exist in my P3D folder (halo.bmp comes up every time I load a new aircraft but it exists in the main texture folder) and some I cannot find, particularly it seems some related to payware airports are missing.  An example tonight is cyyz_term_roofs05_lm.dds when trying to start a flight at FlyTampa's YYZ scenery.  I tried reinstalling the scenery and those files still don't appear in the texture directory so I'm not sure what is going on.

I'm going to do a full virus scan, a quick scan turned up nothing.  I'm not convinced it's a virus though as everything else seems to be working fine on my computer.  Something is weird here.

EDIT: I think I figured it out, somehow the line ShowMissingTextureAlert=0 in my prepar3d.cfg file got changed to ShowMissingTextureAlert=1, not sure if my new orbx product is t blame for this or what, but it seems to have fixed it...

If you think about it, not seeing it is not the same as fixing it. You've just turned off the alert ! You still have missing textures so I wouldn't close this off just yet !

I don't have FlyTampa YYZ so can't check for you but if someone who using it in P3D confirms it is present in their setup, you likely have a permissions issue - suggest reinstalling the scenery .exe `As Administrator` and then if that actually solves the problem check what your systems permissions are set to - this is unlikely to be the only incidence.

On the other hand, the scenery may be calling non-existent textures - this can often be an issue where developers haven't properly scrubbed their development code before release. It's an issue for FlyTampa to solve if it is actually an unnecessary texture call !

That's a good point, but it seems that most payware aircraft/airports I load up were giving me some kind of message, almost as if this is pretty widespread?  I was also getting missing library error messages which I "fixed" by changing MissingLibraryAlert=1 to MissingLibraryAlert=0.
