August 9, 200520 yr In the avsim library here, I caught this fileupsoundcar182rg.zipCarenado released sound updates for inside the cockpit. Cool!
August 9, 200520 yr I see there is a warning on possible performance problems that may develope after it is installed. Did you notice anything? I am also wondering why there is no mention of this patch on the Carenado web site.
August 11, 200520 yr I downloaded and installed the sound upgrade, but to be honest I cannot tell if anything is different. It certainly does not seem to have any negative impact. Graeme Butler
August 11, 200520 yr I have to admit. I installed it but I cannot tell a difference in performance or sounds that I have never heard before. It says it is from Carenado, but don't know exactly what it does.Kev
August 12, 200520 yr What they should really do is re-work the engine sound (which loops incessantly and drives me made) instead of tweaking cockpit button, grrr! Not a potshot at Carenado, because the 182RG is my default bird, but they really need to work on that engine sound.Anyone know of a good 182 engine sample without the looping?
August 12, 200520 yr Hey Koorby,Do you have the 1st patch they released? It did make a big difference with the looping sound. I don't notice it anymore, but then again, I'm not a composer. ;)Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
August 12, 200520 yr I have pointed mine to the default 182 sound set. It's actually very good. It's a 'headphones on' type of sound but that is much more realistic, as who flies 182's without headphones?

August 12, 200520 yr >I never flew with headphones till 1986.What did you say? I can't hear you. Sorry, couldn't resist. ;)Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]

I just got used to it.
August 12, 200520 yr Actually Navajos, Dukes, Cheyennes are quiet enough you don't have to use headphones. The loudest aircraft I remember pre 86 was a Commander 500 a friend owned. When I finished my private in 86 (started in 1977 but got interrupted by life) I was actually surprised how loud those "little" singles were. My experimental was horrendously loud and I would have hearing problems if I hadn't used phones. August 12, 200520 yr You want noise? Take a flight in this.....http://www.thewarfields.com/Cessna337.htm
August 13, 200520 yr The real life C182RG doesn't "seem" that much louder than a Skyhawk, but the tone has a lot throatier bass sound. ANR headsets make flying a joy. ATC is much clearer and you don't have that thrumming in your head.I have never noticed any looping sound with the engine sound. Frankly I tend to ignore it in the sim. It doesn't change like it does in real life where you can tell if you are climbing or descending by the change in the rpm sound.
