September 11, 201510 yr Hey Guys, I finally finished my 14 ATPL Exams today and passed them all so I want to start getting back into the T7 after quite a while away from it due to studying. So I did some normal SID Departures today out of LGW and I couldn't help but notice that once the aircraft rotates, it will keep it's pitch for a while and then the aircraft seems to automatically pitch up slightly more say at 100-200 feet? My question is, why does this do that? I then struggled to hold a speed as in V2+15 > V2+25 it was more like V2+35, I was using a normal load with a ZFW of 177,600kgs and 71,900kgs of fuel giving a TOW of 249.5kgs. Using Flap 5 off 08R I had a VR at around 150 kts. I just can't get my head around the Trim Ref Speed and I WANT to get my head around it, it just seems that I am flying it probably a little out of control at the moment :( It's mainly the pitch up just after takeoff though. I would appreciate any and all advice, Thanks, Tristan Best Regards, Tristan Marchent - UK fATPL(A) - EMB 195 First Officer System: Intel i7-6700k Skylake CPU, 4 Cores (4.0-4.2GHz, Overlocked 20%), Asus Z170 PRO GAMING MBO, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 8GB, Corsair Hydro H80i V2 CPU Cooler, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 3200 C16 2x8GB, Windows 10 Home 64-bit (512GB M.2 PCIe SSD), Prepar3D V4.5 (1TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD), 4TB SSHD Hybrid Drive, EVGA GQ 80 PLUS Gold 850W Modular PSU
September 11, 201510 yr Congrats Tristan on passing the exams. Hand flying the departures I assume. I have not noticed a nose up pitch change as described, you are leaving ground effect where drag increases slightly but cannot guess as to what you are seeing. As for holding speed, my first guess is you have not derated your thrust sufficiently and since you mention TOGW Flaps and V-speed I assume you would have also mentioned thrust. Finally, my advice is to just treat the trim the same as you do in the Piper, that Trim Ref Speed bug isn't even there in the real thing. It's just to help us simmers without force feedback controls. Trim out the stick/yoke displacement same as you trim out the control force in the Arrow or Warrior. It is normal to start flying the trim right after takeoff so do it the same way in the T7 (she flies like an airplane). Dan Downs KCRP
September 11, 201510 yr It sounds like maybe you’re over rotating causing the tail strike protection to kick in. Make sure you’re not rotating too much or too fast. Don’t try to go straight to 15 degrees. Aim for 2-2.5 degrees a second, and plan to be airborne at about 8.5 degrees (about 4 seconds after reaching VR). A tail strike in the 200LR will occur at 12.1 degrees and 10 in the 300ER if the SLG is working, so tail strike protection will kick in before then. Also don’t try to follow the FD, or re-trim during rotation. Brian W KPAE
September 11, 201510 yr This pitch up occurs because PMDGs custom fly by wire model engages at 100ft I believe, so this behaviour you're seeing is normal in the sim.
