Mouse Cursor Disappearing

Featured Replies

Gday....

having a new issue with the 777.

Running through the tutorial 1 for the second time in prep for the tut 1.5.

Something that never happened initially....

When I click  on certain items I lose my mouse cursor and cant get it back unless I pause and open another non fsx related window....

In other words.... Not a cursor to be found......

This has never happened before.

The other issue which I did notice the first time around, was that when zooming in to a part of the cockpit, My mouse will not work anymore on any of the controls... and at times the particular button switch etc, never comes back.

I have searched the forums and have found comments about the loss of cockpit mouse control but none related to the cursor all together disappearing.

I am about to run FSX-SE again after re-installing the 777 to see if there is any change.....

A couple of notes:

The first run was on the FSX original boxed.

The seconded was in steam with the FSX-STEAM update....

I onl;y have FSX SE on a brand new windows install without the original FSX.

I also ran the simmconnects.. all four.

My 373 runs like a dream... never any type of issue....

Appreciate any input on this matter... I hate haven to pause so many times to get my cursor back.....

Thank you much...

I had the same issue in P3DV3. The answer for me was to make sure that the 777 was the only aircraft loaded when P3D started. To do this I chose Scenario Menu Create Scenario (with the 777), tick show at start up and then quit P3D. When you start P3D again the scenario screen will show and you can then then select a flight (sorry, scenario) using the 777. I don't know if this will work in FSX Steam (starting from a saved flight) but its worth a try.

Oh... Now that's another problem. Starting fresh after a reboot, loading a saved file at 38k feet... with the 737, it'll start do descend a bit until it boots up but always good after that...

The 777, No flight plan, nothing I setup on the tarmac is saved....

A common reason for the cursor to disappear is because something else took the focus. Might not be related to your problem but its a good thing to rule out.

Thanks...

Could you elaborate?

The only difference is Im running steam now.

My 737 runs great in fact all runs great but this mouse issue that started yesterday after I had an oom.

before, the mouse was working all the time.

Thanks....

I saw your other post Will, seems you are having a plate full of problems with steam. What I meant by focus is in how Windows acts when different windows or objects are active (selected), the active object has the focus and owns the pointing device (mouse).  For example if you were running FSX and another program suddenly raised a dialog box with an OK/Cancel set of buttons then it would take the focus and you would no longer see the cursor in FSX.  If your keyboard is still controlling FSX then it still has the focus and this is not your problem.

This seems to be a new issue with FSX SE as a result of an update or similar. My Ezdok broke yesterday after no prior issues at all. The fix for me is to manually run Ezdok instead of letting it execute with the sim, it seems to be fine then. Let's hope a fix comes from DT or Ezdok soon.
