Need Help with my FSX performance

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I recently upgraded my computer and am trying to play fsx. However, it's like ive never upgraded. I still get about 20 fps at small airports and in flight, then 10-12 at major airports or major areas.

I don't understand why. My setting are at ultra for the most part. For the display portion I switched the allowed framerate to stay around 50. Antialaising is on, and i play at trilinear.

These are my specs:

   Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_rtm.120725-1247)
           Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
System Model: To Be Filled By O.E.M.

          Processor: Intel® Core i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
             Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8128MB RAM
Page File: 2563MB used, 10171MB available
        Windows Dir: C:\Windows
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
    DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
     DxDiag Version: 6.02.9200.16384 64bit Unicode

Video card is a Geforce Gtx 950 2GB

I appreciate any help.
Thanks,

3.0 GHZ is pretty low powered for "Ultra High" settings and expecting high frame rates at airports if you

are using any amount of AI traffic.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

+1. The CPU is just too slow to run FSX with maximum settings. If you want higher framerates you need to move the sliders to the left a bit. The GPU is fine but FSX is all about CPU speed. Unfortunately the i5 4430 can't be overclocked (the multiplier is locked) and maximum turbo speed is only 3.2 GHZ. So...the bottom line is that you're pretty much at maximum performance now and without reducing scenery details what you see is about the best you can expect as far as in-game settings go.

What kind of system did you upgrade from? Just curious.

I agree, the CPU is the bottleneck.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
