September 2, 200520 yr The poll suggest people want the Herk prior to it being fully ready for release. That amazes me since usually most seem to go berserk when an aircraft is released with bugs. I have to wonder if people jusy have to have something new and not actually enjoy what is out.Anyway sure release it now (I voted to wait) listen to all the complaint posts, that should be fun can never get enough of those.Me I'll wait till it's as bug free. September 2, 200520 yr "To clarify: It's the attitude they exhibit that, I think, is being rightly critized. This has absolutely nothing to do with their national origin. ricardo"That's my view Ricardo as well. I belong to a conservative Christian Church. Does that mean I am Republican? My Godfather was born, raised, and died in Cuba. Was he a communist? Wrong on both counts. Allcott does mention something I do agree with, because I have seen it even here in the States. Many members of "a" Military can adopt a "take no prisoners" attitude which may be great if your friends' lives are in your hands--but doesn't bode well when doing business with your customers. But this is also true of people bred in certain business cultures. It isn't where you are from--it's the set of circumstances in your life that molds you, although where you're from can influence that.I don't mind the threads about bad vendor experiences--but those who contribute, please do so to share your experience with the vendor, good or bad. Don't do so for the sake of joining a bandwagon in order to look "cool" with the most original bash. -John
September 2, 200520 yr I also wonder who is doing the voting and if any of the people voting are part of the CS marketing team.
September 2, 200520 yr I don't understand the whole members of a military statement. You do support your troops, right John? :)Jeff USAF Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
September 2, 200520 yr I don't get the excitement. Let them release whatever they want. Word of mouth will spread and we'll soon read here, if it is worth it or not. At least they're somewhat honest that their product is not finished - unlike other developers who claim to have a perfect, yet obviously flawed product and use their customers for beta-testing on a finished payware product.Supply/Demand - so simple is that.
September 2, 200520 yr "At least they're somewhat honest that their product is not finished"This is true. Most vendors wouldn't even dream about releasing a product as buggy as CS's last release, let alone leaving it in that state. CS is up front that it's not going to work "out of the box" and leave it us whether we trust their vaunted customer support and post-release development staff to bring it up to snuff. Personally, I'll wait to see what kind of bugs there are and whether I can live with them or not. I'm not going to rely on them being fixed. Then I'll decide whether I can get enough of the bad taste out of my mouth from the 707 to let me pull the trigger on my credit card. We'll see, but regardless, it'll be interesting to watch. This will be the best entertainment on these boards in a long time. Grab a frosty, put the feet up, and sit back and watch. :-)billg
September 2, 200520 yr "I don't understand the whole members of a military statement. You do support your troops, right John? :)"Supporting my troops has nothing to do with those that return from their service with an attitude. I did not say all troops carry this attitude, but many do. And I pointed out that this is common in certain business cultures too. Please do not read more into my comment than I intended as I am not here to argue with you. -John
September 2, 200520 yr Sorry John, didn't mean to upset you.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
September 2, 200520 yr I think what they are asking is do you want us to release the Hurc the same way we did the 707? Course we now how will they did the fixes on the 707.
September 3, 200520 yr Thanks for all the responses chaps. You've made some fair points. Just to conclude, I have no problem with fair, constructive critiscism and can understand those who feel they've received a raw deal but I'm a little sensitive when it comes to remarks which are personal and smack of racism and other 'isms'. It seems sometimes, that certain companies are scapegoated and combined with comments 'isms' creates a nasty flavour not unlike fascism (there's another one for you).x( Anyway, ever onward and upward!:-)
September 3, 200520 yr Greetings Jennifer!"(...) I'm a little sensitive when it comes to remarks which are personal and smack of racism and other 'isms'. (...)"I'm glad you've thought it over and sort of see our point. Couple of years ago they did not only send emails, but even put the words: "You are betrayers, and we as ex-Soviet military know how to deal with those" on their website! After I protested against this unpleasant blanket statement, I was informed by Captain Sim that they considered me a "racist", so they cleverly turned things upside down. And I am kind of sensitive too when it comes to these things... so I am very glad you now see the point that, among others, Allcott and myself have been making.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

If that is what they said, then it's even easier to understand why some have responded to Captain Sim in the way they have. OK, well I shall now take that into account when I read Cap Sim threads in the future.Best wishes
September 3, 200520 yr Hi Jennifer!I understand. Those who have not witnessed the hullabaloo of some years ago, might easily draw other conclusions than those who have. Fortunately most other developers, either payware or freeware, are very pleasand ladies and gentlemen to do business with and exchange messages with. There are only very few who have truly managed to build themselves a bad reputation, and by now they are well-known and best avoided.Be well!Jaap.
