September 1, 200520 yr Check out yet another Cap sim bash thread. It'll be easy to spot. Loads of posts and one or two references to Russian' and 'Communism', and paople throwing up on site ...and even a 'Captain Slime'. ........it's all getting rather boring!!!
September 1, 200520 yr Yeah, and if they'd only realise how they need to behave and what they need to do to support customers correctly it'd all go away.It is boring, but only CS can fix it. Allcott
September 1, 200520 yr Yeah, it's amazing. People actually get upset when they buy something that dosn't work and then listen to unfulfilled promises. What's the world coming to? And if it's so boring why bring it up? And one or 2 posts that may or not be unsuitable don't take away from the general thrust of the thread--there are a lot of people upset with CS and they have and will continue to vent their frustrations here and elsewhere until the situation is rectified. I have personally been ripped off for close to 50 bucks by CS and I'm not about to shut up and it looks like there are a few others in the same boat. Seeing as how the plane won't fly...billg
September 1, 200520 yr Yep, Jennifer you are so right.Poor Captain Sim just wants to release an unfinished product that has not been fully validated and completely tested at full price. And as he says in the thread, it is not his first choice, but if the customers want it that way, well, heck, he doen't have a choice but to stick it to them....err, I meant sell it to them! Now, it is not to say that there have been no complaints about CS or issues such as the 707 have been fully rectified and the confidence level is high that all will be made well though top notch support on the CS forum. I'm sorry, but CS earned this tounge lashing. The recent press release is fuel to the fire of CS's own doing and it is unprecedented in the history of FS. Now, I in no way agree with the communist comments as they have no basis. But if the babushka fits, one should wear it to the Gulag! :-lol (sorry, couldn't resist)In all seriousness, come on Jennifer, I always respect your posts and your opinions but I cannot see how, after that press release, you can defend this action - or even the basic premise. Nothing good can come out of it, and it seriously is an extremely bad way to do business.Regards,Mike T.PS. I believe Alcott said: "Major Slime"
September 1, 200520 yr Let's get this utterly clear: The comment relating to communists entirely reflects on the `ex-Soviet military` quote made by CS in what is now more than one e-mail reply to a customer. Seems some want to make more of an issue of it than it is, and others seem intent on deliberately misunderstanding. I work with Russians and they were appalled when I told them of the way I had been treated. And then I find I was not alone and other simmers had also been atacked in the same unwarranted way.If that is how they model themselves, then that is how they should be treated. And if the moderator has any desire to prevent racist and bigoted comment then he could start by banning any further posts from the unapologetic CS and their PR machine.Their business model seems inextricably linked to their culture and/or political persuasion. They make the link, not us. Allcott

September 1, 200520 yr The kind of attitude Captain Sim exhibits vis a vis its PAYING customers is exactly the treatment you got if you went to, say, a restaurant in East Germany. The "waitress" would bring you a menu. It was 5 pages long. You'd "order" something, she'd say: we don't have that. You tried something else, same answer. Finally, you said: just bring me what you have. Ditto for restaurants in Moscow before the collapse of the Soviet empire. The overall approach was/is: the customer should be grateful that he is being served and serviced at all. ricardo
September 1, 200520 yr To clarify: It's the attitude they exhibit that, I think, is being rightly critized. This has absolutely nothing to do with their national origin. ricardo
September 1, 200520 yr Author Hello simmmers.Just doing a little thinking, re the Captain Sim stuff.I see a lot of postings regarding unfinished stuff...707 comes to mind...and the lack of any fixes.Bare with me a sec. I can remember, when FSDS came out ..we had all the awesome cool planes, also FS wasn't quite as sophisticated. Then GMAX/FSDS2 came along as well as FS2004...which really upped the anti so to speak. All during that cycle, I really wanted to try and design planes, panels etc. Gave up, due to flying job(time). But, most importantly. I got to thinking of my computing knowledge, and programming abilities. I see all the time folks releasing patches on things not working right etc.I look at the posts, and ask myself if it was me that released a plane/panel or one of the other....it wasn't working..."How would I fix it?" It came to me. I don't know! I still don't :-)My hat's off to those that do. I enjoy all the fruits of your labor. A Thank You to All.Getting back to Captain Sim, could it also be possible; the person on the 707 that worked on the systems flight model etc..is no longer with Captain Sim. The present developers.....DOn't know what to do to fix the 707 problems...so they continue to kepp folks in the dark, and release unfinished packages to try and sell more. (JustFlight)Just food for thought. The present folks don't know HOW to fix the problems, that the beta testers brought to thier attention..as well as users. Or it could be as some have surmised all along, CS just doesn't care too much. We'll have to wait and see with the Herk, I guess. Thanks for listening.Best,David
September 1, 200520 yr David,Their attitude about bug fixing is quite obvious if you read the last thread talking about whether they should release the product "as is" and just patch it later on down the road, or spend more time fixing the issues. What kind of company has the nerve to ask such a question? They expect everyone to pay full price to be beta testers and going by the history of CS since the 727 was "updated" for FS9, they will move on to another project and leave all their paying customers behind.Captain Sim is now in the same league as Perfect Flight regarding the quality of their add-ons, and they seem to have no problems with this nor do they try to do anything to fix it.
September 1, 200520 yr >David,>>Their attitude about bug fixing is quite obvious if you read>the last thread talking about whether they should release the>product "as is" and just patch it later on down the road, or>spend more time fixing the issues.>>What kind of company has the nerve to ask such a question?>They expect everyone to pay full price to be beta testers and>going by the history of CS since the 727 was "updated" for>FS9, they will move on to another project and leave all their>paying customers behind.Well, truth be told...On the other side of the coin, the information you're not seeing in this case is the likely vast numbers of e-mails CapSim receives literally BEGGING for them to release the C-130; I'm quite certain many other developers receive similar requests.I'm in agreement with some here that a great majority of those very people e-mailing CapSim with that request will likely be the same folks who first complain about various and sundry missing rivets on the Herk. However, to be fair to CapSim, I'm anticipating that the poll they posted wasn't *really* meant to suggest that they purposely wanted to screw over people buying their product. I just have the feeling that they've received LOTS of requests to do so already. If you're a part of this community (or any gaming/simming community), you *know* that there are thousands who beg for product release and, more often than not, are the chief complainers of the lot when they get what they asked for. And -- CapSim's reputation notwithstanding -- I'm fairly certain that poll was designed to do exactly what it says: to gauge how many other folks besides the private e-mailers feel the same way.I want a finished product and said so in the poll. But if they release the 'unfinished' version and people buy it that way (it might, after all, be perfectly acceptable in its present form to many purchasers), those buyers can't say they weren't warned.Guess like everyone here, I'll just have to wait for the release in whatever form it comes. And, like many, I'll wade through all the negative posts most every product receives here, predominantly from the "rivet counters" of course. This latter group usually has a series of good criticisms, but -- for the average buyer/flyer (and believe me, the "average" flyer is in the majority of ALL add-on purchasers) -- those criticisms hardly matter. If there's nothing "major" missing, I'll purchase it. If it's missing a rivet or two, I won't mind.Take the criticism of the latest AVSIM review of the 744. A truly great package out-of-the-box for me and I've been *easily* able to overlook some of the 'errors' in it; thus, for me, the AVSIM review was spot on. Who knows. We might even see a similarly positive review of the CapSim Herk; only time (and a purchase) will tell. :)
September 1, 200520 yr >I'm in agreement with some here that a great majority of those>very people e-mailing CapSim with that request will likely be>the same folks who first complain about various and sundry>missing rivets on the Herk. The problems people have cited in previous CS releases do not fall into the category of "missing rivets."
September 1, 200520 yr >The problems people have cited in previous CS releases do not>fall into the category of "missing rivets." Hehe...Yes, good point. Didn't mean to imply that at all or to belittle in any way those simmers who are dedicated to functional, complex aircraft.
September 2, 200520 yr I don't think that many companies would release a product with known "irritating" bugs under any circumstances. It would create a firestorm of complaints from even those who were pushing for the release. It would result in people losing faith in the company, becoming upset and vocal, and all kinds of complaints and uproar. CS is in an enviable position in that they don't have to worry about this--it has already occurred as a result of past releases and they have taken the appropriate action, i.e. shutting down the forums. Whereas most companies wouldn't, CS can and probably will. billg
