AI planes in MT6 lights barely visible in P3D v3

Featured Replies

I remember using UT2 ai addon for FSX and I could easily see the lights of AI planes in the air. They were so bright. But with MT6 and P3D v3, I can barely notice the lights at all.

I don't recall how it looked in P3D v2.5 because it's been awhile. I'm not sure if its because of the AI model that's included with MT6 or something else.

Where do the AI plane's get its light source from? The halo.bmp file? If so, does Rex Texture Direct have any effect on why I can't see them?

Yup, definitely a bug with MT6 aircraft models...the default AI aircraft lights / emitters are properly visible at a distance.

Really hope someone is able to discover a fix, as it's one of the last things that bugs me (...that said, if that's all I've got left to complain about, things are still pretty darn rosy in V3  )

According to Burkhard MT will not be released for P3D do these things are possible.

That is what Burkhard wrote to me last month...

I am a beta tester for MT.

Sorry Gerard...you statement doesn't make too much sense (unless it's a typo).

I just took off from KALB and saw 2 aircraft on about 4 mile finals and their landing lights were clearly visible.

can you post a screenshot please.

May be wrong, however I believe that MT de-emphasized the lights to reduce the simulator overhead. At least when questioned on his forum, Bernhard's reply appears to be that upgraded lights and models would eat the simulator. UT2 runs as a separate process and therefore is less of a burden. I have both addons and IMO, MT lights are inconsistent in terms of which lights function on which aircraft; and at distance consist of what appears to be a flashing globe.

This didn't matter prior to P3D v3, as no one's lights worked in the sky. It is now apparent. I can't imagine Bernhard reworking all his aircraft to fix the lights.

I am not trashing MT. I used it exclusively for years until I gave UT2 a go. Bernhard is to be commended for keeping it updated. However it is hard to ignore the difference in light and model quality; as well as the lower overhead of UT2.

I believe that AI and ATC are the hardest addons to get right. ProATC is making strides in ATC. Perhaps we'll get an AI addon with decent visuals, up to date aircraft and scedules; running in a separate process.

Graham Derreck

UT2 AI lights were working fine in FSX. I really hope he fixes this issue. I spent money on this product and would expect it to work.

So please update your product and make it work. Without proper functioning lights, ruins the experience. I can barely see any planes and the skies feel vacant. Sigh.

I used to run MT in FSX with similar traffic settings and never had an issue with strobes eating FPS in a crowded night sky (as far as i could tell). I wonder if there's a way to add shockwave lights to the MT6 models.

Shockwave lights dont work in V3 :(

What is not clear that MT is not P3D v3 comparible and will not be.

And the developer has stated this.

Perhaps it is not what you would like to hear....

What a shame. If I had known this, I would've never bought this product. Sigh. What a waste of money knowing that you spent money on something that won't even work with future updates of P3D.

Works perfectly in P3D V3 for me..Why does he say it is not compatible?
