Lear 35A and ILS approach

Featured Replies

Okay update:

Problaby user error: I tested the same approach in the Realair Turbine Duke. No GS/Vertical guidance in the LPV portion of the approach. So it must be an issue with the unit's. I deinstalled the trainer and reinstalled the latest (v5.13, I still had V5.00) and voila at least i'm getting vertical guidance in the Realair Turbine Duke with this (RNAV) approach.

Off with further testing with the Lear..

Edit: test went well. :good:

Ok in my first post I said I thought I was missing something, well I use the GTN-750(Payware) and this is when the needles do not work.

Well I flew last night and used the default GPS(GSN) that comes the lear. All worked as it should all needles were spot on. So now I know it is something I am not doing right with the GTN-750.

Now I will review this thread again and see if I see my fix.

Eddie - be sure you have the latest update for the GTN750 - IIRC it resolved some needle sensitivity issues.

Ok guys,

I also had the GTN750 comm2/nav2 issue. With that solved in the GTN config the HSI shows the GS et al. Perfect.

But I still have no GS with RNAV/GPS approaches. I tried several in the Alaska area (e.g. RNAV PAGS rwy29)  but no joy. And yes AP set to NAV, GTN set to GPS, NAV/GPS switch on the centre console set to GPS. But still no WAAS/GS guidance.

Anyone still seeing this behaviour? Any solution?

What did you do to fix the problem? I still have that problem and I guess I am to stupid to found where in the manuals on how to fix it.

If you are refering to the GTN Nav1/2 problem, it's in the F1GTN configuration utility (F1GTNconfig.exe).  Run it and highlight the airplane from the list, then click on "Configure GTN" in the lower right corner. That will bring up another screen.  Click on the tab at the top labeled "GTN750 unit 1".   Click on the top box "Radios" and select COM1/NAV1.  Then click on "ENTER"  and "EXIT".

Ditto, the HSI does not display GPS guidance when selected but the autopilot will track the GPS in NAV mode. Reported that but was told it worked for him, same result in FSX or P3D.

I did some further testing on this issue. I found that the CDI using the GTN 750 will follow the GPS path. But the GNS will not. So i have written a new code to make this work for the GNS 530 as well.

One reason this was an issue is because FSX has 2 types of codes.

1. HSI CDI Needle

2. NAV CDI:1 or Nav CDI:2

Since i have 2 HSI units i was told to use the second choice for codes. But i had no idea the default GPS or GNS 530 would not respond to the GPS mode since the GTN 750 does and the experts at FSdeveloper said to use it so you have Nav 1 and Nav 2.

So i have written a new code that uses both codes depending on the NAV/GPS switch position. I updated all my models but they will not get to stores until the next update for each product. For now if your using the GNS 530 you can simply input the NAV code for the next leg.
