ERJ frame rates

Featured Replies

Just a curiosity.  I have been flying and attempting to land my newly acquired FeelThere ERJ-135

I have noticed that I start at 30 fps and upon landing after a one-hour flight I'm in the 19 fps range.

I am using FTX Global at the suggested settings, UTX, REX, ASN and no add-on airports other than Ray Smith's AFCADs.  At the end of the flight FSUIPC shows the VAS at 17K+, so I'm no where close to a memory issue.

In the past I've only flown GA, so if the problem is common and was occurring it was on a much smaller scale.

It doesn't prevent me from enjoying the flight, but it's rather jarring to land and suddenly have everything jerky.

Thanks,

Ernie

I recall this problem from years ago. It was solved in the Feelthere user forums which have since been lost. I think one solution had to do with the Compatibility mode FSX was run in.  Try this: Right click your FSX icon | choose Properties | select the Compatibility tab | uncheck the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box, if it is in fact checked. Try another flight

Thanks.. Will do.

Please let us know if this suggestion works, Airernie.

I'm wanting to learn the ERJ-145, so if there are little problems that can be fixed up front, that would be good. Thanks

Glad to.. The past couple of days I've only been doing practice landings from a saved in the air flight, which is only about 15 minutes long.

I'm hoping to do a longer flight tomorrow and will have some data on what effect removing the Windows XP compatibly has.

I've also experienced an issue with the fuel pump power switches shutting off during manual takeoff that I want to explore.    I think that I've got it down to 'when' it happens, just no 'why'.

Okay.. an update.  Removing the compatibility option seems to have solved my problem.

One two-hour flight today across France, plus two shorter one-hour US flights and the FPS remained within the range of the 30 I started with.

Now, two caveats; 1) I'm not in hard winter conditions, rather than light winter so I don't know if that makes any difference in frame rates, 2) I'm not about to say that the problem is solved, because as soon as I do it will head south again. :-)

So far, I'm pretty happy with the aircraft.  Nice change from GA, without being a huge jump up.

Fingers crossed your problem has gone away, Ernie.

I had a look in 'properties' and found I did not have any boxes checked, so hopefully I'm good to go (haven't ventured much beyond VC exploration and a cold and dark start so far).

Glad to hear it's not a huge jump up from GA - the FMC looks intimidating, but I'm sure it's just a case of learning the steps.

Happy flights.

The FMC was surprisingly easy to use, although the manual skipped though a few screens.

Consider a subscription to Navigraph, it's been well worth the $24.00 + tax.  A lot has changed since the ERJ or E-jets databases were generated.

You can start with them, but if you decide to use FlightAware or SimBrief for flight plans you'll find some stuff missing.

Plus, it's surprising how many things I've found that I can use the data for. :-)
