Why do I get the red rectangle on the N1 numbers... on the 777? When I start out its green and then enroute it becomes red..

 

What am I doing wrong? IS my engine in trouble?

 

Yes,but I don't have the manual with me (on the road) to give the answer. When I get home if you'd like I can look it up or tell you what page of the manual it's on so that you can see the answers yourself.

It means the N1 operating limit has been reached and exceeded. So basically, N1 was too high.

  Red - MAximum Take off/Start limit has reached..

 

I am only flying at 220kts the numbers are 777  the throttle is not at the highest 

It doesn’t mean it’s currently in exceedance, it just means at some point it was. You can hit the cancel/recall button to remove red around the boxes. Also the 777 depends heavily on the information you provide to the FMCS, so make sure you’re entering as much as you can for the flight. At minimum you want the departure and arrival airports as well as the weights and CG.
