VOX ATC - the WORST addon I EVER bought!

Featured Replies

Chris, I'm not sure what site you purchased from but if you go to the VOX ATC site you would have seen this notice at the bottom: You can download from this site but if you would prefer, a CD version is available from www.rcsimulations.comThe download is time limited to 30 days from installation and only works with flight plans between Kansas City International (KMCI), Eppley Nebraska (KOMA) and Minneapolis St Paul International (KMSP).For Full functionality, this version must be registered which costs 30 GBP; the help file contains details on how to register VoxATC.VoxATC In Action.I'm not trying to criticize you. If you purchased it at another siteI would suggest your issue would be well founded and you should contact them and ask why they don't make folks aware of a Demo.Might I suggest that you look at Radar Contact 4? While there is no voice recognition it works with just about every add on available.I've used it for about 2 months and love it.Good luckCraig

Hi ZaneYou seem to approve of vox atc, can you tell me is it based on american atc procedures, or can us Brit, real world pilots use it too?regardsDave

While I agree with Pete that one 'should' be able to purchase with confidence, unfortunatly thats not the case with software products in general IMHO.There are a lot of developers who release products with known issues and the customer is the one who ends up doing 'beta' testing. Some people don't mind, others are outraged at the quality, it's an indivdual call. That being said, through painfull experiance I have learned to never buy a product on 'release' day, unless I have done a thourough research on not only the product, but the developer/producer as well. The exception is from a company I know and trust, which on the internet are #### few. Advertizing is designed for one thing, to seperate you from your money, and some are very good at it, especially with the Flight Sim market. You owe it to yourself to find out as much as you can, pro and con, before turning over your hard earned cash. Part of that process is finding and reading customer reviews, good and bad, checking the reputation of the company, even emailing their 'support' to see if you get a timely response. I use 'Google' extensivly to research EVERYTHING I plan to purchase, and check all forums for player feedback.A good developer will take any negative feedback, assess the problem, and if possible, fix it. Bad ones, well, we all know what they do.The bottom line is the customer has to take responsibility for his decision, based on as much information as is possible to gather. The developer has the responsibility to produce a product that is acceptable, and fix any issues that aren't, or provide a refund. All that being said, Pete and his products are without question the standard that EVERY other developer should strive for. The software and especially the customer service are outstanding, and I buy them the second they become availavble. I only wish I had that confidence in others I deal with.

<>That isn't necessarily so...in the U.S. anyway. You can REQUEST a charge back but the retailer has the opportunity to challenge it. If the retailer points out a No Refund policy or that the product is not Defective (just that the buyer didn't like it after purchase) the credit card company is not likely to process a charge back. It is CC company's call to make and is far from automatic.Regards,Jim

Hi Dave,VoxATC in its present form is based on United States FAA terminology and procedures. While any pilot can use it flying anywhere there are some areas of the World where the airport names themselves become a bit of a mess with voice recognition and I use the term "anyplace" which VoxATC will understand. As for flying procedures and terminology like you would use in Great Britain Tegwyn is working on a version that will do just that but it is not ready for beta just yet so I haven't been able to test it.PS. I personally dislike seeing this particular thread keeping being reborn on the AVSIM site as it was originally posted well over a year ago and the title is certainly not reflective of the many happy and satisfied simmers using VoxATC. Since this posting was completely off topic I did answer here but please come and visit the unofficial VoxATC support forum which is also hosted here on AVSIM.
