Hhmm, I never touch the mixture as I leave it on auto, I dont set the fuel at all, as it usually starts with fuel, the only time i change it is when im using FS passengers.

And its FSX;SE

thanks

Hi Barry,

Are you using FSUIPC by any chance and have the throttle axis set in FSX controls UI while the throttle axis is set in FSUIPC as well?

Best way to find out if it is pilot error is to fly the PMDG MD-11 tutorial if there is one.

Hi, I have FSUIPC but not sure what you mean, I set the controls in the normal fsx menu, And what I can make out is I dont think its 'normal' pilot error as I dont vary the 'startup' procedure, and problem is 100% of the time, just think Im missing something.

And I have read through the basic tutorial stuff.

I had a similar problem and found that the throttle axis was set both in the sim "Settings-Controls-Axis" and in FSUIPC at the same time and they were fighting each other for control.  I disabled the throttle axis in the sim control interface and all was well thereafter.

You mention "thrust set" callout in an earlier post. I dont recall that in the MD-11, is that part of another addon ?

Do you get the problem if you load the cold and dark panel state and start the engines yourself?

Have you assigned any axes in FSUIPC at all?

'thrust set' is just on my MD-11 as thats the only place Ive heard it. As for FSUIPC It seems that its a 'lite' version so cant see any real settings,

I dont know how to start with it dark, but have turned them off and restarted them normally (not ctrl+). still get the problem

BUT I have been playing around with the load manager and FS passengers in terms of making sure there no clashing with the set ups, no problem thus far, but as said it doesnt always occur..

thanks

FSPassengers and the fuel may be your problem, unless you turn off FSPassengers' loading of your aircraft, it will mess around with the fuel transfer and tank choices that PMDG does.

So what is happening is most likely that FSPassengers have put fuel somewhere and denies PMDG to transfer it to the engines, and thus they fail.

But from your last post I guess you have disabled FSPassenger's control over the fuel?

Barry,

Any chance you have the FSX Mixture mapped to an axis on your throttles or hardware?  I have heard of that occurring when the Mixture is mapped and not set to 100% as Turbine engines don't use a Mixture adjustment.  Anything other than 100% will fail the engine.

Hi guys, thanks for input.

I do not have mixture set to anything, also I have tried several flights using FS passengers and with out, the problem still occurs roughly 40% of the time in both cases.

its so strange

Is it with a particular saved flight or panel state?  That could also play into the issue.

Nope, just using the 'instant flight' normal mode.
