January 19, 201610 yr Hi lads, I have an idea about computers I'm not clueless but when it comes to whether what I have found will run FSX or GTA 5, I'm not sure. This is what I have found. Bear in mind I know these aren't "top of the range" - this is because of my budget. CPU - Intel Core i5 4670k 3.4GHZ Intel H81 Chipset RAM - 8GB GDDR3 1600MHz GPU - NVIDIA GTX 950 2048mb GDDR5 OR NVIDIA GTX750Ti 2048mb GDDR5 (If 750 will run it please tell me - saving the $$$ if possible VATeir Controller | Area Manager for vRYR
January 19, 201610 yr Intel H81 chipset is a "budget chipset" - not for gaming. H87 gives you more configuration options Z87 allows overclocking (why else buy a "K" series CPU?) http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2077813/intel-chipset-h81-h87-good-gaming.html Bert

January 19, 201610 yr So it wouldn't work? It would work, but when you buy budget components, you get budget performance.. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Z87-H87-H81-Q87-Q85-B85---What-is-the-difference-473/ Bert

If it had the Z87 - would it be okay to run them then? VATeir Controller | Area Manager for vRYR

I can't even run max settings with my rig as I need to go SLI but I refuse to spend almost $700 on another video card just for a slight improvement. I started building my rigs as a kid and thats back before YouTube how to videos lol Most people think building a pc is hard....its not at all, its picking the components that can get confusing if your not big into computers but I'll be happy to help you as would other members here. As for the build process its like putting together a lego kit like as in the easy ones. I'll be happy to talk you through the actual build on a skype video call if you like. ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Yeah you've got a fairly good system. What about the 950? Would that be good enough? Ultra high settings wouldn't really bother me. My priority would be FSX and GTA 5 would be an addition. Thanks, Greg Honestly you'd be better off getting a GTX 770 on ebay even though the 770 is older it still out performs the 950 even the GTX 660ti a very old card out performs the 950,and a 660ti can be had for cheap, and many carry a lifetime warranty. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-950-vs-GeForce-GTX-770 http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-950-vs-GeForce-GTX-660-Ti ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Thanks, Greg Greg, no one ever seems to ask about screen resolution, which is vital when trying to establish how well the GPU will run the game. What resolution do you plan to play at? If 1920x1080, then take a look at https://techreport.com/review/29061/nvidia-geforce-gtx-950-graphics-card-reviewed/4. It reviews the GTX 950 with GTA V and it seems to have no problem at that resolution (60+ FPS on high settings). To quote the review, it offers "an almost flawless and steady 60 frames per second". The GTX 750Ti runs quite a bit slower in the review. As FSX relies more on the CPU, again I can't see that you'd have any problems running it at 1920x1080 with a GTX 950. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3

Very true, but a GTX 770 or 660ti used or refurbished would still out perform a GTX950 and honestly you need a 4gb card to run it. I used about 3.2gb of vram at higher settings in GTA V. On Ultra settings I use over 4gb ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170

Both the CPU and GPU are equally important at this day and age. FSX does a lot of shader work, and that's your GPU. The 950 has more shader units (768 vs 640 for the 750 Ti), which will help both games. Jeff Thomson
