What P3D really needs...is

Featured Replies

Updated AFCADs.  i.e. like many people including the great Ray Smith did for FSX/FS9.   I know someone has done a number of the large airports but those have payware anyway.  Updating basic AFCADs would be great to correct parking, taxiways, etc for many of the midsize/regional/small airports.  I'm sure we'll slowly get there eventually but really haven't seen them popping up regularly in the library.

And yes I know I can do them myself via ADE program but unfortunately don't have that program nor the time.

Would help the many AI programs people run and flying online trying to park/taxi correctly.

You can use FSX AFCADS within P3D...you just have to reset draw flags in a Scenery programs, it takes seconds.  By the time LM would get all the Airports in P3D updated then a lot of them would be out of date again any way.

We need better AFCADS.

IMO many developers focus on eye candy airport scenery (which is good) but very often the corresponding AFCAD is not designed very well. One of the main problem is that ai planes sometimes choose erratic courses on/to taxiways. Leaving runways in a correct way is also problematic. I know that some of this problems can be solved by better designed AFCAD as I did myself in some cases.

Another limit is how the ai engine is designed to use afcads. There is many space left to do it better. But this is up to LM. Don't know if they consider to invest in better ai-behavior.

Yeah sorry didn't realize ADE was a free program.   I downloaded last night and will take a look, but still would be arduous task to do the 20,000+ airports.   Would be nice if whenever someone fixed an airport for P3D, they posted it in the library like members did with FSX.   Would go along way to getting there as a community.

Much like MS, LM is not going to touch any AFCADs.  Cause its a flight sim for training not for entertainment so they care less about AI.  It will have to be a FS community thing.

I'm less worried about the terminal buildings and such and more worried about taxiways and parking for AI.
