Beech 1900 C

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I'm not quite sure if this is kosher, but I am not asking for support. I just flew the PMDG 1900 C for the first time, on a Dell 4700 with integrated graphics, no card. I was shocked at how little a hit on performance it had. At one point, when switching to the exterior view for the first time with the gear in transition, FPS dipped to 12.5 but that was the only time it deviated from the 15 FPS that was my set target. It was no different than the freeware Boeing Super Hornet I had flown on the same computer from the same airport (KABE) with the same settings the day before.I am donating to the Red Cross thru my supermarket, but when PMDG said proceeds were going to Katrina relief I decided to see if the 1900 C would work on my brother's computer. I run ME still. If worse came to worse, I could give it to a friend with a rig custom built for FS9 (He builds 'puters for a living!) He is NOT getting it.I made sure all programs were shut down for all users, but I have not yet put anything like FSAutostart, FSM 2.8 or other things that usually help performance. When I put a freware (lower load?) texture enhancement on my computer with USA Waters and Roads, performance actually went UP, but FS9 on my bro's rig is so far totally default. The guages are as smooth as advertised. Now I'm posting on a laptop. My bro had to do something else with the Dell, so our first flight was short. Predictably, he prefers the F18. He was trying to land it at Slatington 69N till 3:30 AM on a wednesday, crashed every time, often repeating the same mistakes. Well, one time he did touch down safely, but as he was celebrating I had to intervene with aileron to prevent a cartwheel. So he had to do it again on his own, quit without success half an hour later. This is not a gaming rig, and I am happy with how the 1900 performs on it.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

They made a great add-on. I just wish the windshield wipers moved!!

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!I was only disapointed with the reversers. I always have trouble with the F2 key, though it does seem better with the 1900 than the default. Why can't you enter beta then advance throttle? I like the way Veneviveones did it with the Turbocommander 690B. I haven't RTFM yet, but reviewed the V speeds and with my experience in the FLY! II default B200 had little trouble finding my way around. Maybe there is a way to get more realistic beta, but if there isn't I realise it is because they are catering to those used to the default, not a lack of dedication.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Am going to get it, Love the B1900 any version! And the fact that its a donation to Katrina (Im a member of the Salvation Army} and making a 20% minimum donation for all paintings sold in my store on eBay or on auction. Joined the SA, after seeing what they did in a flood in Danbury CT in the 50's.... They were feeding over 30,000 rescue workers and towns people for nothing out of their mobile kitchen.... while the Red Cross was selling coffee and donuts. And when coming back from Korea, the SA met us on the dock at 3am, with free hot coffee and donuts, with a Christmas Gift. (It was two days before Christmas, and processing personal had left on leave, so they knew we were not going to make it home for Christmas.)The Salvation Army also has lower administration costs than any of the other major charities, so more money goes to actually helping the survivors of the Hurricanes... The SA has last I heard 47 mobile kitches feeding people along the Gulf Coast, but many are complaining they have never seen the Red Cross at all. It'll be great, to have a new model of the B1900, as Im switching to a laptop, for the FS, we'll be living in our Motorhome for the next few years anyway. So its good news to hear of your experience with it. Thanks,

HelloYou will love the B1900C its the best value out there.

I bought the 1900C when it came out and haven't regretted it at all. It's a really really great plane in most every way. I just flew it again last night and had a great time.KP

The PMDG 1900C is one of the best bang-for-buck aircraft out there. It flys great, has a great VC and looks and sounds great. It makes a lot of more expensive payware look, well, overpriced. :)Tony =http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Before I made a fool of myself on the PMDG forum, I RTFM and found out that a click with the mouse on the armrest blocking my view of the autopilot in the VC flips it up! Inevitably, a few things left out in the "express" systems I miss, but I forget about them once I'm taxiing to the runway, much less off the ground. And those things are more than sufficently IMHO reflected in the price.I didn't look at the forums here on the 1900 very much, and they are pretty sparse over there. I couldn't get going in the VC from cold and dark with realistic B200 procedures, (similar?) but it is possible to skip the "autostart" key there. The Dell I installed it on is a tower though, not a laptop. I was putting off buying a new system, but I paid $225 for my 550 MGH Emonster in 2001 and my bro paid $300 for his on clearance a few months ago. I'm gonna check it out more, but it's doing way better with the Hornet than mine did, and mine is still M.E. which doesn't make sense to buy XP for rather than a CPU with it installed. I was scared off of Dell by a lot of stuff I saw here, but for what I think looks good and fluid without stutters, my bro's rig is doing just fine. Something to think about after Christmas. He won't care if I take the 1900 back, especially if I give him a freeware F-14...Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Well, you gotta remember with the 1900C and 1900D that their systems modeling is about like the default King Air 350. They don't model the super-fancy avionics and systems of, say, the Aeroworx King Air B200.That DOESN'T mean, however, that they aren't first-rate planes. The 1900C may not model the bleeds or the hydraulics on the real thing, but the flight model is absolutely first-rate, and the virtual cockpit is amazing...fastest gauge refresh this side of the default planes or the RealAir SF.260. It's really a great value and I love it; I put some Reality XP gauges in mine (Jetline 2, GNS 530, WX500) to spiff it up some. :)Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!No argument from me, I am spending a lot more time enjoying the VC and flight model in midair than I am starting it up. Once I'm taxiing, I fahgedaboutit. Best Regards, Donny:-wave
