March 5, 201610 yr Author I will do kevin thanks alot. TOPCAT is pretty much dead. Be great if someone done a brand new performance software !!! Vernon Howells
March 5, 201610 yr TOPCAT is pretty much dead. Vernon The forum is dead but TOPCAT is still alive. If you think TOPCAT is dead, stop using it and see what happens. Michael Cubine
March 6, 201610 yr You know what i mean. Its like FSX!!! Vernon There is no doubt about it, there will be no changes in TOPCAT or FSX. But in the case of FSX, is that a bad thing? For ten years developers have know the baseline to shoot for. It's like trying to shoot a moving rabbit. If it's a moving target like newer platforms that are being developed and updated, it harder to hit the target. This can be seen in the 777 installer. It changes from time to time even though the version number remains the same. The installer needs to be downloaded and installed maybe every couple of weeks to make certain you have the one that is up to date. I don't pay that much attention to the NGX to know what is happening with the installer. The only thing I use TOPCAT for is 777F takeoffs. I never use it for the NGX. For the NGX all takeoffs are flaps 5, derate 2, assumed temperature 60. I might cut the temperature to 45 on cold days - 0 or below centigrade. Have you ever noticed that when the temperature is a minus TOPCAT doesn't work for takeoffs. Stay away from short runways and this whole thread is meaningless. It becomes like how many angels are on the head of a needle. Michael Cubine
March 6, 201610 yr Author Well i dumped FSX a year ago and use P3D V3.1 its alot nicer to look at but it would be great if something new was developed and updated with great support. Vernon Howells
March 6, 201610 yr There's nothing wrong with the wet runway calculations in Topcat. You need an extra 15% over the dry calculation. Dry: Wet: The dry LDR was 1969. 1969 x 1.15 = 2264 (allowing for rounding). Alternatively, the dry actual landing distance of 1182m multiplied by 1.92 gives you 2269 (allowing for the approximations in the calculation and the rounding within Topcat that you don't see, that's close enough for me). Where's the problem? Simon Kelsey
March 6, 201610 yr TOPCAT isn't sim specific though. It integrates with FSX but you can use the data with any sim. It integrates with PFPX too so you would have thought the developers would still support it. I mainly use it for cargo flights (747, 777 and MD-11) to maximise payload. It does seem to work really well with the 747, so I usually use it for takeoff and landing performance with that. That gives me some "interesting" moments near the end of the runway taking off at max weight with max derate.

This app is great for your iphone it uses the QRH PI landing data - https://itunes.apple.com/de/app/737-800-performance-calculations/id657364630?mt=8 Vernon Howells
