Koorby: Good on ya mate!!!

Featured Replies

Yeah, good on ya Koorby, I'll say you've done an excellent job on this 1.1. release. It's good to see the Aussies putting something decent on our screens besides Neighbours and Cell Block H (ah...you know I'm only kidding of course ;-)) Anyway, keep up the great work buddy (or, should I say, that's xxxxxx absolute xxxxxx ripper mate!)

I've installed VOZ, and to say I'm blown away is an understatement. VOZ is breathtaking - if I could think of a stronger superlative, I'd use it.The installation went flawlessly, as did subsequent VOZing and UNVOZing. (I have to admit I don't feel the need to UNVOZ very often!)If you've flown over Australia in real aircraft, download VOZ. You'll be amazed how much it looks like what you've seen out the window. Virtually every frame of my PC screen now looks like a real-world aerial photograph... and with no impact on my frame rates. If you've never flown over Australia in real life, download VOZ and you'll know exactly what it looks like. I have a hard drive full of payware scenery from around the world, and in terms of quality, VOZ beats them all.In case I sound like a commercial, I should point out I have nothing to do with VOZ, nor do I know anyone involved with its production, other than what I've read on these forums. I'm just a very impressed user, and I wanted to heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to know what Australia REALLY looks like from above. Congratulations to Koorby and everyone involved in this terrific project - you should be very proud!Lane

Well thank you Lane, those comments made my day, especially after the beating up we've copped over splash screens, LOL! Really appreciate your feedback.

hey koorby, quick question for you. I love VOZ as you know, but i was wondering if i can make a "shortcut" so i don't need to run the switcher each time. Tell me if this is possible:1. Install VOZ.2. make a copy of your world/texture folder to texture.original, so there are two texture folders under world/scenery (texture and texture.original)2. Run the switcher and apply say south region.3. Now name the folder in world/scenery/texture to texture.voz_south4. Now make another copy of texture.original to texture (since you renamed the texture to texture.voz_south)5. run the switcher to apply north6. repeat #3 and name it texture.voz_northso now whenever i want to fly in voz, i rename the texture folders around using a batch file. so under scenery, i have:texturetexture.voz_southtexture.voz_northtexture.voz_westetc.does this make any sense? I know this wastes HD space..but i have plenty of space. :) Sorry if i'm not making sense here. I also don't know if VOZ replaces anything else besides stuff in the texture folder.-fz

You know, I never ever thought of that, but that is the best suggestion I have heard for a long while - and so simple!Yes, it would be a breeze to setup and the switch would be instantaneous. The issue for you is that VOZ replaces textures in two folders, not just one; namely:SceneryWorldTexture <--- the main ground texturesTexture <--- autogen, sky, treesso you would need to create alternates for both those folders. The downside is that whilst the SceneryWorldTexture folder has a large number of files replaced, the Texture folder does not, and it would be a waste of disk space. However, that does not appear to be an issue for you as you say.So if you have a large HD and are confident enough to fiddle and make the batch files, then it's a much faster alternative to the copy method. Kudos to you!

cool! Glad this works! And thanks for getting back to me so quickly.now it'll be easier for me to make more screens for you! I've been trying to make screens for the GE guys as well. This will make things go a lot faster.I think this method also avoids hard-drive defragmentation. So once all the folders are set up, do a defrag, and everything will be in its place. the batchfile should be easy to write...and it can include an option to select the regions on execution...maybe you can write an .exe for people who want a "full" install of VOZ and don't mind the harddrive space usage...:) :)-feng
