Pilot2ATC vs VOX

Featured Replies

What a pity voxatc was dead !

the previous béta 7.2 was no so bad at all. It would be OK like that for me...

There's still hope. As you stated, the last beta was pretty solid and it would be unfortunate if the software was kaput. I also have P2ATC and it is better than the rest of the ATC field, but not VOXATC. That's no knock on P2ATC but rather it just underscores my bias for an ATC app that communicates via Windows voice synthesis and recognition, but also communicates with and controls the AI aircraft from any AI traffic package.

I'll stick with P2ATC if VOXATC is no more.

...The only downside with P2A for me is that it doesn't interact with AI traffic so you don't hear radio calls. That may change in the future though.

It would be great if the freeware app AI Controller 2 could somehow be integrated with P2ATC. AIC2 forces all AI traffic to follow the proper approaches, arrivals and departures for each airport. Then all P2ATC would have to do would be to set up the voice communication with the AI aircraft.

Cant agree with this post more.  I purchased both and still like VOX more and will again be a buyer when v7 is released.

Jay,

I know Dave has said that AI interaction is something he's looking at for the future. How far in the future, I don't know. Right now, P2A will have you hold for inbound traffic, but that's it.

When one looks at how much work it took for the developer to get AI Controller 2 just to make the AI aircraft follow real world behavior, it isn't a task to be considered lightly. And that's only half the job.

VOXATC gets around all that by not using any AI traffic BGL files except as a source of data to populate airports. That's not a perfect solution either as the AI aircraft don't follow real world flight plans outside of the user's reality bubble.

While Vox uses a workable solution, I have never been a big fan of how AI was handled. Control on the ground is done very well. It's hard to tell where this software is headed.

It has its own FO now? Nice but I wouldnt use it I have MCE and like it pretty much. I think he says that MCE FO works well with P2A. Looking to do a trial soon. Interacting with AI is not a big deal to me as long as they are there. Thats why i cant do VATSIM. Its unrealistic to be flying commercial airline and you are all by yourself at an airport.
