DCS: Normandy WW2

Featured Replies

Hello Scott,The DCS P-51 is a Very High Fidelity Simulation,This is from The DCS Website........

"The DCS: P-51D Mustang offers both highly-detailed simulation and easy-to-play "game" mode options for both hardcore and casual gamers. When in simulation mode, this is the most authentic simulation of the P-51D Mustang that has ever been done for the PC. Enjoy both the thrill of flying this warbird and operating its various weapons against a variety of ground and airborne targets.

An interactive training system puts you in the cockpit with an instructor as he walks you step-by-step of learning to fly the Mustang.

A powerful yet easy-to-use mission editor allows you to create your own missions and campaigns. A one-click Mission Generator also allows you to instantly create battles as small or large as you wish.

Fly online with built-in server browser that supports up to 32 players in both head-to-head and cooperative gameplay. Fly online with other DCS aircraft like the Black Shark and the A-10C Warthog."

I believe The next DCS WWII Module will be The P-47.But since they released The Spitefire just a 2  months ago it's probably a good bit off. Their are some 3rd party developers working on Warbirds,The P-40 should be out soonish.

Hi Folks,

That looks REALLY good...

Anyone know what the first full blown American aircraft that's planned for this theater ???

From what I understand - the Mustang is a somewhat "lite" model in DCS ?

Regards,

Scott

The actual P-51 Mustang on DCS: World has a "hardcore" module. Other US aircraft on develop has the P-47D Thunderbolt.

:hi:The only question mark over it is the definition?  I am now a bit short sighted in my old age, so I don't want to be the same in my "virtual" world?

With a WW2 aircraft, as long as I can see the Altimeter and Air Speed, I reason its going to be OK. DCS permits enlarged targets, I guess that's Ok too!

If I got one and they then released a O.R. Mk2 with higher definition, I would be less than pleased!

Anyway, I will recce the Normandy map and go from there!

Cheers

David

"Dear all,

Due to a pressing family matter, I will be traveling this weekend. So, I've had to postpone the live stream one week to 4 March 2017.

I look forward to seeing you all then.

Thanks,"
Matt

Hope all is well for Matt

"Our map team is hard at work bringing the Normandy map to completion with most of the work focusing on bug clean up and tuning. We are getting close! Once the map is available for pre-purchase, we will announce the release date.

One question we often read about the Normandy map is if non-World War II units will work with it. It certainly will! In fact, we think many of you will find it an amazing map for helicopters and close air support aircraft in particular.

For this update, we’ve included several images of many modern day DCS World unit types in the Normandy map.

Also, the Normandy map live stream has had to be postponed to 4 March 2017."

Hi Folks,

Nice looking Perry - and you guys chose to model it WITH the missile launcher... They wound up taking them out in the later life and honestly - they looked naked without them...

Scott

This is marvellous news!!:-)

With the speed of graphics processing in the DCS engine, that Occulus Rift may have just been brought up a few places the "to buy" list.

I can see that Spitfire mk 9 being purchased in the Fatherland sale this weekend!:-)

As for using all the "modern" modules, I can only see one drawback, inasmuch that in 1940, there were no navigation beacons, VOR/NDB, or the Russian equivalents, so navigation will be by dead reckoning, Map reference, and the mark one eyeball, unless of course you use the Viggen with self contained INS/Doppler navigation.....Or the Ka-50, with a similar self contained battle field nav system..;)

Christmas is definitely late this time:-)

Regards

David.

***Live Stream Delayed***

From Wags.......

"Dear all,

Sincerely sorry to have to do this a second time, but the team and I have decided it would be best to delay the live stream a bit to come very shortly after the start of the Normandy map pre-purchase and the release of the amazing trailer video that “Glowing Amraam” is working on. We feel the live stream and Q&A will be much more appropriate and useful after the pre-purchase beings.

Again, my apologies for the delay."

Thanks,
Matt
