October 14, 200520 yr I don't know any better way to inform the authors than to post this here. I have written and email and posted on their forums questioning this practice. I surely hope this product offer is discontinued.http://www.rikoooo.com/?frame=pack

October 14, 200520 yr They'll never stop. They consider themselves to be offering a valuable service to the community even by offering a package of tested quality freeware (meaning things they like or others will like) packed together so you don't have to search for it and download it all (or so they'll claim when confronted).I admit it can come in handy for those without high speed access at home, especially with the ever increasing download sizes, but of course doing this without prior permission is inexcusable.
October 14, 200520 yr Maybe I'm being naive but if a freeware designer stated that their product was freeware with "limited distribution" and specify that their creation cannot be uploaded in any package without the permission of its author, would these people be less likely to do such things? Also, when does it become the responsibility of PayPal or other money collecting organizations to regulate this sort of thing? I expect that it would be an insurmountable task for PayPal, or similar money collecting entity, to monitor each of these transactions. Could they not investigate individual claims of piracy and ban individuals from using their service once it's proven that they are using others work for profit? I'm sure the extra expense of monitoring this sort of thing would not cut that deeply into their profits. I expect that anyone could create new account, but what if these money collecting agencies insisted only on allowing people to use email contacts issued only by one's actual ISP to set up accounts? What is really annoying about this is that freeware designers devote countless hours and often considerable expense to develop these fine creations for the free use of other sim fans. It burns to see someone else making a profit off other's hard work whether it's legal or not.Just my 2 cents and I'm sure it's been hashed out before.Adam

October 14, 200520 yr Ferdy and his FS site in Spain have been pulling this crap for years. Of course he doesn't sell outright, just charges for the right to download--no difference in my book. He stuffs files on his site that he has no right to as explained clearly in the docs--which of course he deletes when they specify only one or two sites that the files may be placed on.He also CLAIMS you can download for free without a paying account. Not true, you don't pay,you don't download.David
October 14, 200520 yr If I remember correctly, FSPlanet or its host does reserve the right to archive uploaded files onto CD's for sale.... Don't know if they're actually doing that, though..."which of course he deletes when they specify only one or two sites that the files may be placed on."If I remember correctly, to get a file deleted from FSPlanet, you have to jump through several hoops, including overcoming threats of legal action... Unless he's relaxed his position on his "right" to steal freeware in recent months to the point of freely deleting files on request...... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
