This was a recent change. What is going on? Bill Clark Windows 10 Pro, Ver 21H2 CPU I5-8600K 5.0GHz, GPU Nvidia RTX 3090 VRAM 24GB Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7, 2TB M2.NVMe, RAM 32GB
April 28, 201610 yr Youtube now runs html5 so your browser may noe be able to interpret the high resolution. It's the same with Firefox. Flash is no longer supperted by firefox so most firefox users download an addon from Mozilla which runs YT in flash as before. April 28, 201610 yr Author I could try Firefox, but just don't understand why IE doesn't support this? Bill Windows 10 Pro, Ver 21H2 CPU I5-8600K 5.0GHz, GPU Nvidia RTX 3090 VRAM 24GB Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7, 2TB M2.NVMe, RAM 32GB
April 28, 201610 yr Commercial Member Not sure why YouTube switched as HD functioned in IE11 prior to whatever they did. Flash support is a security risk... so... However, Microsoft won't update IE11 any further because it's not part of Win10. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
April 29, 201610 yr Flash is no longer supperted by firefox so most firefox users download an addon from Mozilla which runs YT in flash as before. I do not have any addons for Firefox to run YouTube videos and they work and display just fine. However, Microsoft won't update IE11 any further because it's not part of Win10. Not true. Internet Explorer 11 is included with Windows 10 along with the Edge browser. To the OP although I regularly use Firefox I just tried IE11 and the Edge browser and had no trouble viewing 1080p YouTube videos using both browsers. I don't know why it isn't working for you. The only suggestion I can give is try increasing you browser cache settings and see if that helps. I have mine set at 1024 MB. Todd
