This usually only happens at the end of a long flight, when taxing in.  Any suggestions?  I have looked at the CTD guide, I have built a new cfg, but no fix.

Thanks,

You need to monitor your VAS.  See page 14 of the AVSIM CTD Guide.  This happens a lot at the end of a flight especially if you landed at a commercial airport that has a lot of eye-candy.  There is only one solution.  Turn down your settings and monitor your VAS.  When you run out of VAS or get low on VAS, your application will stop responding or you will get an OOM message.  The fsuipc4.dll utility provides a warning near the end of flights when you are running out of memory.

Thank you for your reply,

I am monitoring my VAS via the FSUIPC logging as outlined in the CTD manual here, and am not anywhere close to running out.  I landed with only 2.3gb of VAS being used.  Any other ideas?

Thanks,

That's a heck of a lot of VAS remaining.  I've never heard of anyone (but you) who has that much VAS remaining even for a short flight.

All of my suggestions are in the AVSIM CTD Guide.  Look at Freezes During Flight, page 31.

Thanks for the reply,

I am using very low settings with just aerosoft EGLL.  Also, that is 2.3gb used not left. (I would be flying around the world if I had such results )  I will take another look at the guide, but is there anything known to happen with such a scenario?  Anyone have any other ideas or experience something like this?

Thanks,

Anyone have any other ideas or experience something like this?

This scenario is extremely common.  When you get low on VAS, say 1 GB or less, you could experience an OOM depending on the what you  have loaded.  I have seen instant losses of VAS on approaches after a long flight of around 2 hrs or more.  On second I am over 1 GB of VAS and then a second later I'm at less than 500 MB's.  Mostly this happens when flying into resource intensive FSDT's airport KORD or Flightbeam's KIAD HD.  It is most common when approaching in nasty ActiveSkyNext weather.  I have modest settings and nothing really extreme.  Everyone who owns a computer with a 64 bit OS only has 4GB's of VAS and texture rendering and commercial aircraft like PMDG's eats up the VAS rapidly if not careful.

Your crash report above indicates you have everything installed properly with the correct versions of Microsoft Visuals and Microsoft.net.  You loaded the PMDG 777 and also had EZCA running (don't think that program is exactly compatible with P3D but people are installing it with instructions from Elaine).  You also had ActiveSkyNext loaded and the fsuipc utility.  ASN takes up a lot of resources too depending on your configuration.  There are settings in ASN that the developers said is hard on performance when set higher.  Of course, everyone thinks that means they should raise it higher.  Many people also use the EMT utility to install things that were not made for P3D v3.2 and that causes issues too.  Anytime you use a hack like the EMT utility to install something w/o the developer's installer, you are risking issues. I see no indications you used the EMT utility but just mention it just in case.

Lockheed made a great program but then people do all kinds of things to get all of their old programs installed in the new version and things go South unexpectedly.  When your application hangs, it is extremely difficult to find the cause.

If you look at the CTD Guide, I have set up a method to bring your P3D (or FSX) back to the default settings because 90% of the problems occur with a bad P3D.cfg or dll.xml.  Rebuilding the P3D.cfg usually fixes most problems as it removes any tweaks or high settings and gives you a chance to start setting up your sim again w/o reinstalling the whole program.  In other words, you, and only you have to investigate what is happening on YOUR computer and with YOUR flight simulator.  That's why I created the guide so you would have guidance on investigating.  It would be great if I could simply tell you the problem was caused by a setting in your P3D.cfg and it is a known problem.  Remove the setting and enjoy flight simming again!  But that's not going to happen.  Not with FSX or P3D.  They are both very old programs but at least Lockheed Martin is doing things to enhance the product.  I don't know though if they can fix the software engine to make crashes go away and to allow you to turn your settings up to max and never worry about a freeze or crash.  I think what they need to do is to immediately set all of your default settings so they look like they are maxed out.  That way you can't raise the settings and have problems in the future.

Best regards,

Thanks for the detailed response,

I will take a look and troubleshoot myself.  I have rebuilt the CFG and will attempt another flight soon.  Thank you for all your help, recommendations, and explanation.
