Prepared.cfg file HIGHMEMFIX entry

Featured Replies

Interesting observation I made now. I have never edited my prepar3d.cfg file. I deleted (or rather moved) the file to allow the sim to rebuild a fresh one for some minor problem solving. I then closely compared the two files (new and old). I noticed that the original one has the HIGHMEMFIX=1 entry under [GRAPHICS], yet the newly rebuilt one does not?

Maybe it is because I just entered the sim on the ground for a minute and did not go flying, but curious nevertheless as surely this would be generated as part of the base cfg. I will check to see if the sim adds it later but if not, maybe I must add it back manually.

Or, maybe a bug and everyone that has ever rebuilt the .cfg (common advice here on Avsim for solving issues) is running without this line and thus might be wondering why they are struggling with a VAS ceiling?

Not needed in P3D. There are numerous threads here in Avsim discussing the issue.

This does not make sense to me. It was present in the cfg file in the initial instal. I did not add it manually. In other words, on a fresh install of P3Dv3.2, this entry is automatically present. When the cfg is rebuilt, it is not present. So what you are saying is that LM made a mistake by including this in the installer version of the cfg?

Not needed in P3D and FSX_SE. Some addons put Highmem in your CFG, without you noticing. FSDT addon Manager can do that also.

Ah, ok, that must be where it came from then, I do have some FSDT addons. Thanks for clearing that up for me Badfinger.

Cheers!

Yes, and it's entirely pointless, since that is "hard-coded" in the sim's engine now.
